Dear VJ members:

My husband had an interview at the US Embassy in Cairo, at the time of the interview he was told that his visa will take six to eight weeks and that was on September 9, 2008. everytime i check with them they tell me that his case at administrative check. Two weeks ago I was told that the Administrative check was completed and we should wait fro DHL to deliver the passport. Two weeks and nothing happened, I contacted them again telling them DHL did not deliver him the passport yet, I was so shocked to see that they are telling me something else and which is that his case under administrative check. I hav no clue what is going on and it is like they are playing us off. Plz let me know if someone had the same situation before. I am very frustrated we have been about 1 year appart plz help if you know anything about this.

So, your husband is approved, but in AP? Then they said they sent the visa via DHL? Now they are saying he is still in AP?

I would be calling/emailing the consulate and if you keep getting conflicting information, ask for a supervisor. If you STILL get conflicting information, write your congressman and ask them to intervine in order to get a straight, accurate answer from the consulate. At least you should know what is really going on, AP or ready for the visa.

Thats what i would do

Good luck

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Heck, I would not only ask, I would demand to speak with supervisor, and not get off phone until mission accomplished.

Thank u for ur responses but trust me they r so rude at the US Embassy in Egypt there is no way they would allow me to talk to anyone even if u try to get some info about the case they would not discuss it with u over they phone, they would tell me to email they, I had tried that several times. I had even contacted the DOS and I was given the same answer, i mean it has been five months since the interview, honestly they do not have any humanitarian feelings at all. Please if any of u went throuhg this before, provide me with a solution.

Thanks

ANNA

It's not uncommon to be placed in AP for extended periods of time(especially in MENA countries).

The real issue that you have is the conflicting info. Write your congressman or senator or both to get a straight answer...are you in or out of AP?

Good Luck and keep emailing them as well.

I hope you get an answer very soon
