I was wondering what people have used as 'proof' of being resident in their DCF country.

I am just a housewife and have been married to my DAH for almost 1 1/2 years. I am going on the 27th to file my I-130 and am worried that my visa, stamps in and out of the country, lease and house sitting contract will not be enough! Has anyone had any trouble if they were not working BUT also not a student or tourist?

Thank you for your help!

The lease is pretty major proof if your name is on it. Do you have any bills or other mail addressed to you at the address?

Well, the 'Rental Agreement' is with my parents, where we are 'living' (it has been our home base as my husband travels two weeks here, two weeks there with his job and I get to go with him!) Since August 1, 2008 (Feb.1 will be exactly 6 months) Before that we have a House Sitting Contract where we lived, but the stupid head, I mean friend we were house sitting for, used random spellings of our names (which I included on the I-130 and biographic info). I hope this is enough! I also have a stamp in my passport for the Ukrainian government saying I am registered for a year in my parents apartment. (Another potential problem is the official address is Apt.3 but I am registered in Apt.10... it is a double apartment with two seperate entrances) AND a 'Certificate of emergency medical aid to foreign citizens' but these are only good from 11/06/2007 till 11/05/2008 BUT none-the-less proving I'm here? So many ifs...

I don't have any bills but we did get a Christmas and Anniversary card from my grandmother addressed to us at that address!

Now to start on the I-864! Which in Ukraine I'm allowed to turn in when I'm filing the I-130!

Governments and their documents, shesh!

Hmm.... I can see your concern. But you do also have the stamps in your passport, which should look pretty good with the other stuff. If you have any mail addressed to you at either address, even something personal, that could potentially help.

My husband had a residency card, similar to the US green card, does your country have one of those? He also photocopiedn the entry and exit stamps in his passport. We also had some joint bills, but didn't even bother with them.

The Sydney consulate flipped through my husband's US passport and saw his Aussie residency visa and his entry stamp and that was enough to satisfy their requirements.
