I am looking for anyone who understands the Mail system in China. My Fiancee has moved and she tells me that when they get mail the postal calls there cell phones. Since I am in the USA, it all sounds a bit strange. Yet when I have been in China, I never noticed a per say mail man...lol She is expecting information from the consulate and I worry she will not get it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks always,

John and Siyi

"Mail" from the Consulate will come by way of the Courier service "EMS". Yes, they'll call her on the phone number she gave.

Thank You, you seem to have much knowledge on here and it is a great asset for us all. Firday I spoke with my lawyer and honestly when I got all done, I still knew nothing...lol.

I understand the Noa2 goes to NVC, I just do not understand how you track the paperwork or when it gets to the consulate. I just do not want for there to be any delays on our part. My Fiancee has obtained her Passport and Birth certificate, so I think we have that covered.

Well, once again thank you

She'll also need to obtain a certificate indicating she remains unmarried. "Affidavit of Single Status".

Thanks, I forgot to add that to my list, she is divorced and has divorce papers, both in Chinese and translated to English. She has no Job, I have sent her to school for her to learn English full time, which she is doing great... She has been in school for 6 months, so I support her while she is in school. by the way I wish you both a Happy Chinese New Year, I wish I could have gone there during the festival... nest year for sure.

Thanks again

John

Yes, they do the same thing in Vietnam. I keep telling my mother-in-law, "Please don't put my cell phone number on the packages you send. I don't want random crazy people calling me." She doesn't believe that the Postal Service here won't call me. So far, no crazy random callers.

Yes, same for Cambodia. In addition to this, I have to write "NO MONEY INSIDE" on the outside of my packages and letters to my fiancee there, or she will mysteriously NEVER receive it! Crazy!

Once again, I appreciate all the information, I am not sure what we would do without this site. It is great to know we are never alone in our journey..

Wish everyone a great life and all our dreams come true.

mail in china is not like in the states. no pile of junk waiting for you every night. mail is business, and business is mail. bills are not paid by mail, rather usually in person. a more direct and effective economy. your sugar will flip when she gets here.

It is very stressful to think about the mail. My wife basically doesn't even try to get mail at home. I send packages to her school where she teaches and the gatekeeper calls her or she checks in with him and wala she can go and get the package. Also gets pretty beat up. I'm not sure what I am going to do when the official mail goes to her.. biting nails

I do the same thing, when I mail my girl something, I send it to the hospital where she works. It is strange that the consulate calls on the telephone number they give on the G-325 since they make us provide a picture or computer generated image of any non-roman style language address. I noticed that a simple mail address there goes backward, China, Province, City, District, Street,....??? What a job it would be to be a Chinese Postal Carrier. My mail gets there though but she lives in a large city. Much of how things work in China is still a mystery to me but it makes sense to them. I will spend my life explaining our culture and learning hers. To me, that is going to be lots of fun.
