When VJ moderators get MAD....

There was a thread here in 'Off Topic' this morning about immigration attorneys. It was a few pages long, and I typed out a couple paragraphs as a contribution. When I submitted my post, an error message told me the thread was gone. Not about to accept that having written at reasonable length, I started a new thread to submit my post. One response, then *poof* it disappeared.

Sometimes, threads are moved to a location on the forum more pertinent to their subject matter- fair enough. And when people start making racist or otherwise objectionable comments, threads are locked. But why would a thread about an innocuous topic be outright removed, especially if it had a good discussion going? The only thing I can think of is Mr. Power Drunk Internet Cop moderator had some kind of personal objection to it and deleted it.

Explanation, please?

Go listen to some free beats:

Funny....Nighthawk had the same problem, but later found the thread simply got buried. ;)

Wally,

Let it go. VJ mods do not like being questioned in public. That's a suspendable offense around here.

You have to take it to PM, where they have the upper hand. That's just how they roll.

I can't send a PM. I don't know which moderator axed it, and there are many moderators. I'm sure this thread will be deleted before it gets too long, but I don't get it.

These were threads very much related to immigration stuff. By deleting them, the particular moderator did a disservice to the mission of this forum.

And the threads weren't buried. A search on "attorney" doesn't turn them up.

I've never heard of that.

it sounds to me like someone has their pm box turned off.

edit - cancel that idea, i just sent him one and it went thru.

I find OT on VJ to be quite of a free-for-all, for the most part it is any-thing-goes. The topic has to be very caustic for it to be deleted by a mod.

I participate in another board where the mods will not put up with anything political, and have seen them outright ban members for going it to things that can cause dis-harmony. They have good reason for this, that site has a small number of members compared to VJ.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I think he means he doesn't know which mod shut down the thread or whatever... but that doesn't really matter, you could just pm any of the mods...

Yeah, that's what I meant.

Anyway, I stand corrected. The thread was merged with some thread I'd never seen (someone linked it for me) so I didn't recognize the thread title when I did a search for words in my post.

Sorry for starting sh!t, back into my hole...

VJ has exactly 4 moderators.

Mags (Magenta)

Jenn!

Kim (KimandRuss)

William33 (me)

We do not "axe" threads indiscriminately, rather we follow the terms of service (TOS) outlined by the owner of Visa Journey. That is the job, for no compensation, other than giving back to the website that helped us through the immigration process.

As Charles outlined, your post was "merged" with the other versions of the same thread; and there were many.

Regards.

I am closing as the question was answered. As a note, the topics was merged (as stated above); VJ Mods do not delete threads because they are mad... we only take action with regards to the TOS (additionally OPs can request their threads that they started to be removed).

I am an Ewok. I am here to to keep the peace. Please contact me if you have a problem with the site or a complaint regarding a violation of the Terms of Service. For the fastest response please use the 'Contact Us' page to contact me.
