My DAH was approved in Auckland this morning. I was stressed, he wasn't :P Yesterday there was a major power outage here in Auckland and the whole CBD was shutdown. 12848B114.gif Fortunately it only lasted 4 hours and everything came back on line. I was visualizing not being able to get to his interview this morning (8:15am) but we did.

At a couple of minutes before 8am, we went up in the elevator to the third floor and passed through security and then there were about 10 people that came in after us. Very nice lady (blonde medium length hair) took my husbands interview letter and the package of forms we had prepared containing his police reports, military record, birthcertificate, etc. And the Affidavit of Support and supporting documents for that. I told her that I had not signed the I-864 yet and she said "good". She asked about value of our condo in the US and was happy I had an Opinion of Value Letter for it. She went through all the supporting documents for both the DS-230 and the I-864 and checked off a checklist that she had. She was also happy I had made photocopies of the documents for her and complimented us on our being so organized and prepared. She then explained to my darling what he would get in the mail (the brown envelope and passport) and gave him instructions on what to do when we got to POE in the US. Then she said don't worry we will put the instructions in the mailer (courier envelope we had to provide) so you won't forget them. She told DAH to pay the fee and come back, he did. Then she said, have a seat and the ConOff will call you up to window #7. Less than 5 minutes later, the ConOff called us both to the window, took electronic fingerprints of my darling's forefingers, asked us to raise our right hands and swear that the information on the I-864 & DS-230 was the truth, etc. then had me sign the I-864 and DAH sign the DS-230,part II. After that he chitchatted to my sweetie about his work (he is employed by the Dept. of Corrections) and said we'll mail this out to you in a day or so. I asked him, "is that it?" and he said, "yes, that's it" OMgoodness. D_SMIL112.gif we were out of there at 8:35am.

While we were waiting to talk to the ConOff a young couple were at a window filing a petition. We could not help but overhear that they did not have everything required, e.g. missing photograph, etc. I wanted to ask them if they knew about VJ but didn't get a chance as we were called up for the interview. Just cannot stress enough how important it is to have all your papers in order, will save you so much time.

The people at the Embassy/Consulate at Auckland are so nice and helpful.

I be very happy, lol.
