Govols, you're the American, aren't you?

No i'm the brit and i been in america over three years and spent most of that time looking for a duvet and they don't exist here but some people won't be told lol

Hey, I posted links. I'm only going on what I found.

Your links are comforters not duvets

Oh, I see. You're probably getting confused by the use of the word "comforter".

Duvets

A down comforter is the same as a down duvet. In the US the packaging doesn't refer to Tog, but does refer to "Fill power", which is the same thing. You just need to understand the differences in terminology.

I love Ikea, though me and flat pack doesn't work too well. Our nearest one will be Atlanta, and I'm sure we'll be taking a trip there.

yeah, flatpack sucks unless you have an electric screwdriver and an extra pair of hands to hold it together!

our nearest one will either be atlanta or houston, such a long drive but there are some things that they do that you just can't get anywhere else, right?

if they don't have duvets/covers i'll be sure to let you know lol.

I like the food they do at Ikea too, some of the chocolate is nice.

The duvet is the thing that goes inside the duvet cover. You could call it a quilt too lol. I think there are too many terms

ooooooooooooooooo

I give up

as long as it keeps we warm at night I dont give a damn what it is called ahahahahahah

The only reason I prefer a duvet and cover is because it's easier to wash. Though I was battling a comforter plus UK washing machine. There was no way that it was going to fit. I have a low tog duvet at home which only just fits.

ah that is one thing I am really looking forward to - the space in US washing machines:)

Well we call them Doona's in Australia, I have one in the UK called a Duvet and we put one on our wedding registry in the US (duvet), who the heck cares what it is called. Its not a comforter though, cause my soon to be MIL gave me one of those for Christmas. Mind you I stuck it in a cover to make it doona like and more versatile.

I think we know they are different and that duvets and duvet covers are not the same size in America and the UK. However if you buy them both from one country (which I am doing) then you are fine. And we already established you can buy them (duvets and duvet covers) in the US.

:help: :help: :help:

which part of you can't buy them in the US do you not understand

Sorry to be blunt

Oh wow :wow: , I love a great duvet debate.

I can't believe we're having a fight about duvets and Allan hasn't been here to participate. I think we should move to the next conrtoversial houseware item - ELECTRIC KETTLES!

Thanks for the Macy's tip Krikit - that's the best thing I've hear all day (though not for my non-USC husband, who now will accompany me to all future Macy's shopping trips)
