Not my part. Just fleece weather here...a little chilly in the morning.

Yikes!!! I think I would have to hibernate all winter if it was like that. I don't do cold so well if it lasts more than 2 days.

yeah, I admit, I do think of all the snow we get in New England whenever someone in Old England mentions how cold it is.

I also think of that whenever the Americans mock the clouds and rain over here.. I'd rather that than the extreme weather there anyday..

I live about 45 minutes east of Terre Haute and we had around 11-12 inches of snow last week. And I get so many people say to me "It's colder in the UK isn't it" to which I laugh maniacally and say "Erm, it rarely gets below 28f, so no, it's way warmer than this little area of hell."

I mean, I've never had my nostril hairs freeze in the UK. The first time it happened I was "oh bloody hell! What's going on here then!?"

You've not lived until your nostril hairs have frozen up.

It's snowing here in London

Snowed here in Cambridgeshire too. Expecting it heavier tomorrow and Tuesday. I won't miss it.

nostril hairs are one thing; when it feels like your eyes are about to follow suit it's quite another ;)

(I experienced -43C in the Czech Republic one winter - we were actually out in it for hours; it wasn't just stepping outside the front door for a moment and then back to the fireside... in fact one of the coldest nights was the one we went night-skiing, if I remember correctly :D - and am not keen to repeat it in a hurry, though I'm glad to find that it means I have lived :) )

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

You've been here how long now, Damien?

I'm not there yet, Rebecca, but remember I lived there for two years between 2004-2006.

I kind of think the opposite with at-will employment. You can pretty much be let go in the US if somebody doesn't like you. Office politics play way-to-big a role in working in the US.

That's life, kiddo. It's up to you to make sure you fully understand how a corporate structure works, and make sure you don't piss off the wrong people.

Not sure where in Alaska your moving to, but if it's Anchorage, your best grocery stores to shop are: Fred Meyers (owned by Krogers now), Carrs/Safeway, Walmart, and Costo.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Ditto here in Brum. I awoke this morning (well, this afternoon  ) to the sight of a winter wonderland, rather like the one in 'er indoors' picture. And of course, as is the norm in this country, a little inclement weather and everything stops.
