I still haven't changed my passport to my married name and my husband has our marrige certificate.

If my name isn't changed in my passport but I have used my married name on everything else during my visa process, will this cause problems? When I get to the US, will I be able to use my married name to get my social security number etc or will it be under my maiden name?

My first wife had the same issue. She left it with her maden name until after she got to the US and changed it here at the Thai embassy in NY. She kept the same passport with additional information added on to say that he name had been changed. SHe had no problem getting the SS# since her married name was on her work permit. If you checked the box on your application to request a SS# then it will have your married name on it. Otherwise just bring your green card or work permit with you when you apply and you will be fine.

Hi,

I still have my passport in my maiden name as well. Filled all the papers with my married name. I don't think it should be a problem for as long as you have your marriage certificate. When i went for my biometrics app. the only ID i had was my passport the paperwork was in my married name,so all i had to do just to show my marriage certificate.
