I work in a payroll office and this week we got some new hire paperwork on someone thats an immigrant. They have their SS# with the writing on it and their EAD card but I was surprised because its so different from the one I had back in 2001. This cards validation was for 4 years! I thought EAD's only were good for one year? Did they change something recently? This persons card is valid from 2007 to 2011.

Probably depends on class of visa that they are in the USA on perhaps a NON-Immigrant work visa, or a refugee, a person that filed AOS from a K-Visa tends to get a 1 year EAD, and can renew it at no charge if AOS is taking longer than a year.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I wondered about that too as it states on the ead that she is from Mexico. I remember from living in AZ that Mexicans could come and go across the border daily for work in the US with some type of Visa which I assumed might have been under NAFTA but wasn't sure.
