my lawyer didn't ask me to get a police clearance yet. I am wondering if I should have Fernando do it while I am there next week. HMMMM Costa Rica is 100 times slower than any other place I have ever had to deal with. I hope that doesn't end up being an issue.

The only reason we asked before, is because on the guides it says to try and get it ahead of time, because some countries take forever to issue one. Definitely have him look into it.

The Netherlands only takes a couple weeks to issue one. It's NVC requesting it from them that is probably going to cause another delay :(

I just e-mail my attorney and asked him about it. I don't want to have my husband get it and then have it expire. We still have to go threw the Waiver approval.

I couldn't take it anymore. I just went online and booked my ticket to visit my husband. I figure I can also work on my school portfolios and my resume/registration abroad while I'm there, during his work hours. Anything is better than sitting here and stewing about my luck with immigration.

HAHAHA I know exactly how you feel. I was planning on working on my taxes while I'm in Costa Rica. I just bought a new laptop so it will be much easier.

Everyone thinks I am crazy for going to see him every 6 or 8 weeks... My heart can't take being away from him...

I just got off the phone with him. He is working today and it is raining. I feel bad for him because he works on a motorcycle and he has to be out in the rain all day.... He's so bummed out

I told him when he gets here he never has to work on the weekends or at night.

Narina,

This week has to be your week. :clock:

I am sooooo hoping you get your approval this week.

I plan on calling everyday to check the status. After all, they do tell you not to hesitate to call back if you have any more questions.

My Dad told me that they told his friend to stop calling :( They told him calling every day won't help, that he just has to wait. He's waiting 2 years  I hope it's not like that for me.

Actually my ticket is for the beginning of March. I cannot go until the director of my department comes back from her trip. She is leaving in February and won't be back until the first week of March. Since I am second in command, I have to take over for her until she comes back (leaving right after she gets back). Thank God she is SO supportive of the whole immigration nightmare...because she also had an immigration nightmare with her husband and step-son!!!!

I also go every other month, Jen. I can't handle being away from him for long. I literally feel like my heart is dying inside when I'm away from him. I would actually go every single month if I weren't ashamed to ask my boss for the time off. I don't want her to think I'm taking advantage of her kindness.

I sent my husband a form to sign for a tax ID number. I am almost sure we can. If you read the instructions for filling it out it asks if the applicant has a visa. I know when I apply for my daughter's financial aid for college they will use my husbands income from Costa Rica so why can't I add him to my taxes. He counts as a family member.

Look up "Tax ID number" on the IRS.gov website. I printed out the form for my husband to sign. He was supposed to FEDEX it back to me but that was before I booked the trip for next week. He asked me this morning if I need it this week. I told him to forget the FEDEX. I will just get it when I am there..

I have a lawyer too...but ultimately you end up doing all the work because you're the one that has to gather all the documents and give the answers for all the forms

We requested the police clearance certificate from the Netherlands but they said they don't give it to us. They said that NVC needs to contact them directly and request it. I can just see this being a HUGE delay...in addition to whatever delay we're facing now :(

I talked to my Dad yesterday. He said that no one is immune from immigration #######. He tried asking his friends to check on my case too. He told me that one of his co-workers (they work for the government) has been waiting 2 YEARS to bring his wife. So basically if a government worker is waiting 2 years, then who am I? Right? So depressing

Weird Netherlands is doing that, I have mine in Aruba already actually I had one since November 2007 but that is not valid anymore, so i requested 2 new once I got them last Thursday, they take 2 weeks and are valid between 6 mts & 1 year.

So I am surprised Holland is doing like that, must be another way!

I hope that is not the case! that is just wrong!

HAHAHA I know exactly how you feel. I was planning on working on my taxes while I'm in Costa Rica. I just bought a new laptop so it will be much easier.

Everyone thinks I am crazy for going to see him every 6 or 8 weeks... My heart can't take being away from him...

I told him when he gets here he never has to work on the weekends or at night.

I wish he could come but he is very limited on vacations, he was suppose to come for Carnival & arrive on Valentine's day but due to Turn @ he can't come, the move is nice but i miss him Lots

The day he left I wanted to buy a ticket and go with him all i had was my wallet and my passport

But as we all know I am not aloud to enter USA it SUCKS

Actually my ticket is for the beginning of March.

I hope by then you go, to come back with him!!!!!! all DONE!!!

Speaking of taxes...are we allowed to claim our spouses if they're not yet residents??? I have to ask an accountant. I wonder if anyone knows. I'll post the question.

I was trying to find that out two, i think you can and he needs a tax number or you file head of household

I think I am going to get my tax number.

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Lisa, you're a warrior, baby. I know it's a poor excuse for the real thing, but does he have skype for you to at least see him online?

AWWWW I feel for you. I don't know how you do it. I can't really afford to go back and forth but my heart drags me. I can't go more than 6 or 8 weeks without seeing him. He doesn't have a computer so Skype is out. Although I am leaving a laptop for him this time so hopefully we can connect with skype.

Hang in there. I know your heart is hurting. Just think how wonderful it will be when he finally gets here !!
