I am waitting, and nothing everyday in the mail. I mailed my DS-230 in October, made a mistake with one word. The word "Present". They mailed that to me December 18, 2008, I fix it mailed it back to them, they have received it December 22, 2008. I know this, because I track it. Ok, the holidays, the cold, the new President. What are they doing. I will be married two years come this June 16. I married June 16, 2007. I paid all their money. Sheesh, what is the hold-up? I even had my medical, to cut down on time. What is coming next? I'm ready to go to Montreal, please give me the visa, so my husband and I get at least spend one occassion together. I am seriously worried. Can anyone give me any encouragement?

Marie :crying:

As far as I've seen montreal is taking about 4 months from the time you return your packet, so hopefully you might hear something next month...I know it sucks, I'm not sure why its taking them so long, except for the fact that they deal will all the immigrant petitions for canada as well as the non-immigrant ones for eastern canada, which means they have a big volume of visa's to deal with...but it still sucks.

Oh, sorry to hear that Marie. :(

I remember feeling this exact same way when were sent in our completed DS-230. I finally decided to call one Monday morning, and my husband called excited saying that the letter for our appointment arrived at the house - literally just seconds because I was going to call NVC.

I've been reading a few other posts, and it sounds like NVC hasn't made interviews yet for people around your timeline. I think Shiri is one of them. I bet you're both next on the list for the next round of interviews.

Good luck! (F)

You haven't been approved at NVC, so you are not even in line for an interview at Montreal yet - possibly. It took them 2 months to send you an RFE on the DS-230 - are you sure you don't have another RFE pending perhaps?

First you need to call NVC and speak to an operator and ask them if your file has been approved yet. If it has, ask them if you have been scheduled for an interview in Montreal. (you don't mention whether you have done this already - so thought I would mention it).

If they say no, your file is not completed yet then:

Tell the operator you want to speak to a supervisor. The operator should be able to put you through to one on the spot.

Once you are speaking to the supervisor, you can explain that you submitted your corrected DS-230 a month ago and have heard nothing. He/She will probably tell you it will take 10-14 days to review it and get back to you - it probably will only take around 5 days.

Let us know how this goes and good luck!

Just a note that IR1/CR1 applicants do not return a packet to Montreal :)

Hi! People!

Thank-you Dani for responding. Also thank-you Mrs. Cat for the encouragement.

To Trailmix.:

I mailed my DS-230 exactly on November 7th, 2008 .I just checked my notes on a little pocket calendar I keep. On December 18th , I got a RFE, for line 20 on DS-230. Fix mistakes, send it X-press post, arrive there at NVC on December 22th, 2008. I have no other RFE pending.

How would my husband called NVC to see if our files has been approved? We have never called them. I think it is the petitioner, whom has to call. My husband is in Missouri, I in Canada, me moving there, hopefully soon..lol. Also, a question I have, can my husband e-mailed them instead of calling?

Last question, what do you mean by IR1/CR1 applicants do not return packets to Montreal?

I want to say that I have notice your large contribution on Visa journey, in helping others. What a great thing for you to do. What a blessing you are to people who are apart, taking time to help others in answering these same questions over and over again. I’m always afraid to give people the wrong advise..lol. I am not as knowledgeable as Mrs Cat and you Trailmix. Thanks!!!

Marie

Their phone number is (603) 334-0700 - just follow the prompts to speak to an operator, you may have to call several times to get through to one. They will ask you for your case number (the one that starts with MTL) and for the beneficiaries birthdate.

You can email them NVCINQUIRY@state.gov . If you email (it can take several days for them to reply - I would recommend that one of you call) ensure you put your case number in the Subject line and the beneficiaries name and birthdate in the email.

Last question, what do you mean by IR1/CR1 applicants do not return packets to Montreal?

I was just responding to what Danu had mentioned.

And you are welcome!
