I'm a little confused with your sentence about flying within the US. You can always fly within the US once you're here. There are no customs or immigration checks within the US. Just checks if you're returning to the US.

I know that but it seems that the customs are checking more and more the non us citizen even when they fly within the US... My I94W beeing expired since August 17th and my green card not there yet, I prefer being careful. You never know, they could decide that I am not totally legal and give me a hard time. With my AP though they can't anymore...

Plus with my EAD I can obtain a Texas ID without a few weeks, ID that i can show when I travel within the US as well..

On n'est jamais trop prudent!

There is no customs at domestic terminals, just TSA security who only care that your ID matches your boarding pass.

Well I asked about it couples of time on this website and each time the answer was the same: they may control your I94W as the ID I would present would be a non us passport... So better not travel with an expired I94W. I called as well the security control department of the airport, and they told me the same, even if my flight was for a US destination that I needed a valid I94W!
