I am English only. My wife speaks English, Tagalog, Pangasinan, Illocano. When she is angry or very tired it is a mix. I call it Tagalish. She has taught me a few words. Most of them bad, that way I have no doubts when I am in trouble, again!!!

We speak English to each other, but my wife speaks Bisaya to her 7 yr. old son and the baby. My 7 yr. old stepson forgot how to speak his native tongue within months after moving to the states, but he says he understands what his mother is telling him.

Hmmm...it's quit amusing at times. I speak English, although sometimes I just speak American. My wife is a filipina and can speak English, although at times I have to speak very slow to her or she cant understand me. Come to think of it, sometimes she has to also do the same thing or I cant understand her! hehehehe Our ears are slowly getting trained to better understand one and other. She also speaks tagalog and illongo. which I am slowly trying to learn.

It will be nice for our children to speak both languages.

Mix of Japanese and English.

Recently it's been more English as my wife has been making a great effort to learn, but if we need to discuss something serious (as in: "DO NOT open that envelope you got with your visa- only the border officer can open it!"), I tell her in Japanese.

She sure doesn't look 16 in the photos.

I had my hopes that our children would be bilingual also, but what I've come to realize is that if they aren't immersed in speaking it daily, they won't have a very retention of the language.

Thats funny John...TAGALISH! I know when my wife is mad at me also. She gets real quiet and does not

say a word for about 5 to 10 minutes...maybe that is called "Tampo"? although from what I have read, if that

is how she is acting, it is mild.

English only. My hubby would like to learn Italian, but I'm afraid he would not learn a lot by just speaking with me, and then we live here in the US. No problem though - I don't really miss speaking Italian, and my English is good enough to get by.
