hi everyone,

i just wondered if anyone else received a Interview letter stating (Initial Interview) ?is this usual ?

I also received an addiitonal letter with my interview appointment on white paper and bold black ink about criminal history ?is this usual too ?

It states everything on the interview letter, but to receieve an additional notice ?and also say initial interview ? makes me very worried.

can anyone reassure ?

I also wondered why we have to spend so much time and money obtaining documentation from our homelands court system obtaining court information or criminal record history when the USCIS can just access that information through our fingerprints ?

My interview is next month,i applied for AOS whilst on visa waiver back in august of 2008,the time has finally come, very nervous.

What happens if the greencard is denied ? Are you sent home there and then ?thanks

Hi,

I have a 130&485 interview coming up soon. It says "initial interview" on the letter. And I also had the white paper sent with it too. I disregarded it bacause I do not have any criminal history. I assume it is something standard that they send.

I don't think it is anything to worry about. If you have a criminal history, you should follow the instructions on white sheet.

Are you adjusting from a K-Visa or some other visa, K-Visa holders need to get a police report for the visa, if you used a visitor's visa or some other visa type, you still need to get a police report for adjustment of status, USCIS does NOT have access to other countries police databases, the finger prints go to FBI for checking of US Police databases.

And Yes it is normal to call this an initial interview, especially if you did not use a K-Visa to enter the USA.

ok it seems standard then, thanks guys.

I applied for AOS whilst here on the VWP.

I dont have a record i was worried as was questioned by police the last time i went back to the UK but my friend (not anymore)has used my name whilst i was out of the country,as soon as they tokmy fingerprints they figured out i wasnt who they wanted (very stressful)

I figured for a minute this had caused an issue.

And i thought the USCIS had access to this sort of information from the UK ? which iswhy they takethe fingerprints.

Thanks for the information guys, good luck to everyone.

I'm sorry for hijacking, but I thought that once at the AOS stage, you did not receive a police certificate

I would be acquiring a police report, and bringing it to the interview "Just in Case"

I also adjusted from VWP. Our interview letter also said 'initial' interview and we got the separate notice about criminal history. As far as I remember, it said a police report was only needed if you did have criminal history - what exactly does it say on yours? As I don't, we didn't get a police report and everything was fine, no mention of it at interview. I guess having one just in case (especially if there could be issues with the person pretending to be you) would be a good idea though, just to be sure.

Removing conditions:

10/9/10 - Package sent to Vermont

10/13/10 - NOA1 date, received 10/18

yes I also received the additional notice, it's a photocopied piece of paper - not on official letterhead or anything and simply says that IF you have been arrested, you need to provide the following:...etc...etc...

it's basically an elaboration on what is in the interview letter

Notice to Applicant: If you have ever been arrested or detained by any law enforcement office for any reason, you must bring the following to your adjustment of status interview.
