I saw Peameal in Stew Leanords a while ago. But it wasnt there last time we went. I saw those pics of it now I want to make some big fat slices, BBQ it up and put it on a Kaiser roll with eggs, onions, lettuce, tomatoe, a little mayo, salt and pepper.. Mmmmmmmmmmm....

Alas, I can't get a a good stiff Kaiser roll here either but one of these Itallian buns should be ok.

let me ask this..

was it the americans or the canadians that came up with the idea of adding the pineapple to the canadian bacon pizza?

No idea where that originated from. My first husband (Canadian) liked pineapple on his pizza, I then acquired a taste for it myself back then and even now on occasion will have it. My current husband (USC) likes pineapple on his pizza too along with the Canadian bacon.

gotta pay for it, and prob. still not as good as what you're used to, but if you buy a good brand(read=not all!! fat!) ;) and you get some really thick cut bacon,it's probably closer to what you're used to. I always like buying the thick sliced but we can't always do it..you get less and it's mor expensive..yum yum tho..you can actually TASTE it in the sandwich.. M.

OK...this from my adorable Canadian:

that round stuff is called "back bacon"...he says they have bacon like we have bacon - in strips. don't know much about that other stuff. anyways...i'm not too fond of that round stuff here in the States, I'd rather have what we had up there in Canada...much better stuff. then again, maybe i'm biased, since i'm very much in love with my canadian :luv:

What americans call canadian bacon, we call back bacon. so yes, it does exist. however i have heard that the back bacon in america is nasty and nothing like the stuff we have in canada.

they make it differently, because somehow somebody thought that "Canadian" bacon, as we make it in Canada was smoked, but it isn't. They got confused and they smoke it, so its really just ham, not the same as our bacon.

We have Hawaiian pizza at Domino's. Its ham, pineapple and extra cheese. I personally think pineapple on pizza is disgusting, but I still have to make it when it gets ordered :P

Don't know who started it tho, I doubt is was the Canadians, as it is most commonly made with ham, rather than "Canadian" bacon. Most pizza chains have a Hawaiian pizza, and most that I know of use ham, at least around here.

People here in town keep ordering Canadian bacon, I make it a point to correct them and say we only have ham. ;)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hawaiian pizza is a two-topping pizza usually consisting of a cheese and tomato base with pieces of ham (or alternatively Canadian bacon) and pineapple.

Hawaiian pizza did not originate in the state of Hawai'i, but gets its name from the Hawaiian character of the pineapple and ham (pineapple being one of the more popular fruits on the islands, and pigs being the most common domesticated animal on the islands). This unusual pizza is especially popular in the Western United States. Ham and pineapple is also a popular topping combination in Australia, but notably not in Hawai'i. This type is also common within the EU as Pizza Hawaii.

According to Pizza Marketing Quarterly it is the most popular pizza in Australia, accounting for 15% of sales.

I like pineapple on my pizza

i make a really good pizza... I call it a BBQ Chicken pizza....

You take a pizza dough or those ready made crusts and layer it with BBQ sauce, and then add some chicken (I usually marinate the chicken in BBQ sauce and then fry it up with some onions)...

then I layer on bell peppers, pineapple and cheese.... it is sooo yummy!!

Well, the ultimate bacon site seems to be: http://bacontarian.com/

And I see why there is confusion. Canadian Bacon, comes from the loin of the pig and nbot the belly so many would say it is not bacon at all.

All I know is, that round ####### in packages, and that ####### they put on Pizas, is not Canadian Bacon. There is no such thing as Canadian bacon, and if there was, it would be peameal bacon.
