Why would you want to do that, it is $340 and you would still have to pay the I485 fee of $1010 which includes the EAD appilcation. It seems to me you would be throwing away $340.

Hello, i have the same case, though i havent E-file the EAD yet but we will do it very soon, maybe next week. To answer jasman 0717, in our case we would file first the EAD for some reason like we cant still afford to pay the $1010 (AOS w/ EAD), so we will just sacrcifice first the $340 so i can start working and from then we can start saving to pay my AOS.

To Steveee..... i would like to keep in touch with you with the process that you already started with regards to your E-filing of your EAD if its ok with you. Thanks, God bless.

Sure why not, you know what were having the same plan, its hard to cash out the 1010 i know that the EAD will be free of charge if you file along with AOS, but for me is to work after the approval of the EAD and save money for AOS will be better for both of us, anyway for me i had a lot of time to adjust because i had a 2 year K-3 visa, i used E-filing to my application its easy at the same time you can pay it by credit card, i sent January 11, 2009 and they sent back thru email my receipt number January 21, 2009, i received my NOA last friday January 23, 2009, so for now im waiting for my schedule of my biometrics appointment hopefully very soon, you can add me so that we can talk, thank you...

For anyone doing K3 visa it can be a good thing to get the EAD before filing for AOS, Most K3ers want to wait until nearer their 2 wedding aniversary to file for AOS so that they get a 10 year greencard and dont have to file for removal of conditions. So the overall cost works out about the same.

marizzacdo, your status shows you are here on a K1 visa. If you file for EAD before AOS it will only be valid for 90 days from the date you entered the US. In most cases the EAD is approved just before the 90 days are up so you only have a valid EAD for a few weeks and in some cases it is approved after the 90 days are up and you will have wasted $340.00.

Oh wow! thank you so much for that idea Kez/Jwolf, so it means i can file for my AOS like around Oct or Nov, 2009 our 2nd wedding anniversary will be Dec 21, 2009.

My DIL is a K-3 holder. The kids would rather shell out $340 for an EAD now and file for AOS a bit later so she can get a ten year card rather than a two year card. Removal of conditions is a lot more involved and more expensive than getting an EAD. K-3ers often do this.
