If it is such a breeze for inter racial subsarahan couples why are Joseph and I in visa hell . And Deb she is white married to a black. And look at the others that get AP. Almost always white couples. Lagos is one of the most biased places to go through. The embassy is more corrupt than the 419 artist they want to make us all think we are involved with. The Nigerians in Lagos are about as prejudiced as they get. They don't like their men marry white women, that is why so many of us end up in visa hell. But black couples never see it when white people get the shaft.

I never said it was a breeze...I said that there are plenty that get through with no problems. At every consulate there are going to be couples that have problems and those that do not.

Lagos is a hard consulate to go through, as it is well known. But I am not sure that you can generalize and say that they do not like their men marrying white women. There are a lot of interracial couples that have gone through Nigeria that have had no issues whatsoever.

As for black couples not seeing what the white people go through, I urge you to read my timeline and read my story and see what we had to go through. My fiance and I come from the same area of Ghana, are from neighboring tribes and speak the same language. I can relate to what other couples who have been through AP, are waiting, etc etc have gone through. And, as my memory recalls, there were at least 2 other couples (from Ghana) that had their interviews in Decemeber 2007 and June 2008, both same race couples, that were put in AP or denied (but they managed to overturn it and get the visa).

This is not a Black/White issue. It happens all over. I have friends, first generation USCs, that have had a hell of a time bringing a spouse from back home.

This is an immigration issue.

There was nothing fair or impartial about Josephs interview. My income is way over the required amount. I have had the same job for 30 years, I have had a full dod clearance for the same time. We had over 2 years of communication with the last year being daily. I had pictures with his mother, father and about 13 out of 17 siblings. But the BLACK female that interviewed him wanted to know why he wanted to marry an older white American then based her returning the petition on him not being able to detail what I do at a DOD classified job ( which she knew from my paperwork) . My one satisfaction was reporting her for attempted espionage.

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Ha, is this thread still going on? USCIS doesn't like anybody very much. But all you have to do is to take a nice pill, pay all their fees, keep all of their appointments regardless of how inconvenient for you, and give them all of their evidence they request even if it's the same evidence three times in a roll. Then after five or so years of this stuff, they give you a certificate, smile, shake your hand, and welcome you to the USA. Then it's all over.

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Excuse me...

But why are you being nasty to Lisa??? Her comment was the LEAST offensive one here. Have you paid attention to the other nasty things others have said about your post and your thought process?????

Did you go to your spouse's interview? Did you speak to them with the same attitude you're using here? If you did, then that is why you were denied.

As much as we hate it, we have to kiss USCIS and the embassy/consulate's behind every step of the way. Being bossy might work in your career, but when it comes to government employees, that doesn't fly!!!!! DOD clearance or not - you hold absolutely no power and no influence when it comes to immigration matters!!!!!

It's not just a black/white thing. My friend who is a white lady married to an Indian man has been appealing their denial for 2 years. He was actually deported and they're seeking a waiver now. So it happens to everyone. When I had my interview a few years ago for my ex-husband the adjudicator asked me outright, "Aren't your parents mad you married one of them???" Because my husband was Muslim. So please...it's not just you going through this!

I am curious, was there any follow through on the espionage charge? Do you know if the officer was charged or anything?

NT4H-My "bitter and spiteful" comment was to Sylvia.

Sylvia--Maybe because you have " a DoD classified job..." they are checking your intended out more thoroughly...Would make sense, no?

Also, Were you not instructed to never reveal clearance ( or matters related to your clearance, etc) to anyone-so why are you brandishing it about here? Not smart, IMO.

I'm not too sure about that, but ok.

eta-Not to be argumentative, C, but I am pretty sure that those that hold a security clearance get pretty much checked out every which way but Sunday.. ( along with their associates/family...etc etc etc)....Of course..I know not much :D ....

Actually when someone gets a government job that requires clearance, I was told that everyone, including your spouse and your spouse's family members can be checked out... That statement made perfect sense to me. Makes me wonder if that's not why my own petition for my husband is taking so long...I never even thought of it!!!
