Marriage interview for ethnic couples is worse? YES OR NO?

I can't believe this thread is still open. Maybe the TOS rules are a little different in the Off-Topic Forum. Anyhoos, I think that the OP definitely has some identity issues etc and that a lot of her logic is flawed. I appreciate that there is a forum to discuss these issues. I would, however, like to address some of the offensive language used by some of those who disagree with the OP. The "black-accented" language slang i.e. weave, you go girl, my sistah, angry black woman etc etc comments are not necessary. I get that you're trying to make a point and you are upset with the OPs comments/generalizations/rants but I don't think that caricaturing the OP and those racially similar to the OP (me :)) is necessary.

That's it and all from me. Let the rage recommence...until whenever someone responsible closes this thread. And as you can see from the picture, I am AfAm (USC) and my fiance is white (from Western Europe) and we haven't had any problems so far. Our time line has been consistent with the VJ estimates.

Anything out of the ordinary may make an officer scrutinize something more(even if they shouldn't), but my husband is Indian and I am white and we didn't have any issues due to being a mixed couple at any time during the process.

IF PLACES LIKE FRANCE, CANADA, SCANDINIAVIA, ENGLAND, SWEDEN HAD CASES BEING DENIED MORE OFTEN THAN OTHERS, IMMIGRATION WOULD REFORM THE SYSTEM AND MAKE IT BETTER FOR THE "EUROPEAN" AREAS. ASIAN AREAS ARE ACCEPTABLE TO IMMIGRATION BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT AFRICAN OR THEY ARE CLOSER TO THE WHITE RACE. BUT AS LONG AS PLACES LIKE SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA ARE CONSIDERED "HIGH-FRAUD" AREAS EVERYTHING IS FINE. LESS BLACK AND MORE WHITE EUROPEANS COMING INTO THE COUNTRY IS THE IDEA. BECAUSE LIKE THE PEOPLE AT STORMFRONT, THE GOVT. BELIEVES THAT EUROPEAN PEOPLE OR ANYONE CLOSE ENOUGH TO EUROPEANS ARE ACCEPTABLE, BUT ANYONE "TOO DARK" OR FROM AFRICA MUST BE A FRAUD AND MUST BE DENIED. "WHITE" RELATIONSHIPS ARE CONSIDERED NORMAL AND PEOPLE WITH TEXTURED HAIR AND FLESH COLOR ARE NOT CONSIDERED NORMAL IN THE EYES OF THESE BIGOTS. :star:

I know maybe this argument won't work with you, but I am trying to be civil. India and many other Asian countries have been considered high fraud. Any country that has had a HIGH number of fraud cases will be labeled as high fraud. It doesn't matter what the skin color of the people are. You need to do true research about how a country became labeled as high fraud before you jump to all these conclusions. Yes racism still is in the US, I am not going to say it's not. Whoever acts racist is a dirt bag. But that doesn't mean you can jump to all the conclusions you have. I think you are just frustrated with the whole process, and we've been there, knowing the govt decides whether your loved one can come here or not. It's stressful. And I saw other ppl say it, but it's not just white ppl working in the embassies and consulates.

YOU ARE JOKES! NONE OF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH IMMIGRATION BECAUSE YOU COME FROM COUNTRIES THAT ARE NOT CONSIDERED "BLACK" AREAS. YOU ARE CONSIDERED CLOSE TO THE "WHITE" RACE THAT'S WHY ITS EASIER FOR YOU TO GO THROUGH THE PROCESS. OF COURSE YOU WON'T COMPLAIN, BECAUSE JUST AS LONG AS OTHER PEOPLE ARE BEING MISTREATED AND YOU ARE NOT EVERYTHING IS OK. BUT IF "WHITE" OR EUROPEANS WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE IMMIGRATION SYSTEM I AM SURE THERE WOULD BE REFORM CHANGES QUICKLY. Whats really interesting to me is the way people who probably have never experience racism, can speak from a perspective as if they have. Like they KNOW the struggle of "black", "Africans," "people of color" so well.

Maybe I should also mention the fact that my husband was denied a tourist visa to come visit here, and the person who decided that was African American. Should I say maybe he was racist towards Indians? Or was he just following the rules in a country with a lot of fraud? Was Sujeet(husband) attempting fraud? No way. But he didn't have all the criteria the officer wanted to see in order to get a tourist visa at that time. We didn't think that decision had anything to do with skin color of either person, but had to do with India in general.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that, IMHO, if you suffer from any sort of discriminatory treatment in your life, anywhere, anytime, it is probably because of your poor attitude. Step outside or yourself and look at things differently. A positive attitude will go a long way towards improving your situation, no matter what or where you are. As a side note here, my SO lived in Russia for a while and I was there with him for 6 weeks. In my opinion, Russia could give the United States lessons on racism.

When you think about how bad you are being treated, that is how you expect to be treated and that is how you will be treated. Read The Promise - it will help you change your mindset.

Most of the new immigrants coming to the U.S. aren't from European countries. Why are trying bring more white people into this country by bringing a white Russian guy here? You'd think all the racists in the USCIS would be rolling out the red, no, white carpet for him.

What's "flesh color"?

Someone's attitude is not always(or not usually) why they are discriminated against. It's not as simple as that IMO. Having a positive attitude can effect how you feel about it, but I don't think it can change it.

You are right, I don't believe that a positive attitude can change anything but how she reacts to whatever she is experiencing. I was in a hurry and didn't proof read what I wrote....

My husband has lighter skin than I do, and I'm very pale. But he went through a high-fraud consulate that is notorious for denials even in the face of very strong-looking proof -- several friends have been denied there or have had to fight hard for an approval. We knew that in advance and prepared for it. If he'd gone in there with a combative attitude, do you think he would have stood a chance at the interview? If he'd been denied (by his black CO), would that have been because of racism? You say Asians are "closer to the white race" so they are "acceptable to Immigration." Try visiting the Asian regional subforums (or any of the regional subforums, as a matter of fact) and check the stats -- and the tears! Yes, Sub-Saharan Africa is considered high-fraud. So is the Middle East/North Africa. So is Russia. So are parts of Asia, Europe, and Central and South America. Plenty of light-skinned folks in most of those places. NONE of us have an easy time with immigration. That includes Europeans and all the other "non-ethnic" people. That's one of the reasons why VJ is so helpful. We can all commiserate together, regardless of race. In fact, unless they've posted a photo or they've mentioned it outright, I have no idea what the race is of many of the regulars who've helped me so much over the last few years, and I don't care. We're all in this together.

If you have a timeline you'd like to share, or you have specific concerns while preparing for a successful interview, there are plenty of people here who would be happy to support you and share what helped them get their loved ones here safely and keep them here. After all, that's the point of all of this. What makes some of us feel defensive is that your time here has been spent accusing USCIS of racism toward one specific race while minimizing the challenges ALL of us have faced in navigating immigration, and if anyone suggests a different point of view or that the problems with USCIS involve more than racism toward one specific race, you call them racist as well. Of course you are free to post whatever you wish, and if you think USCIS or whoever is racist, by all means, call them out on it. I'm just suggesting that you might find some real value in VJ if you share what you, specifically, are going through with immigration and allow others who have been there to share what worked for them. VJ is a wonderful resource if you choose to use it.
