It seems to me if you borrow money or print money to create economic activity but don't provide any form or equity or raw materials to underpin it, it's yet another house of cards - but I am not an economist so what do I know? :)

You are right.

I have long been a proponent of stealing Iraqi oil. That would be the one thing that would help us and make that war worth it.

thread is rather disappointing. maybe it woulda got more play if he'd said "....black (or brown) construction workers."

I am concerned, as I'm sure many of you are, that these jobs not simply go to high skilled people who are already professions or to white male construction workers.

Context is everything. His whole argument has to do with his concern that the economic hardship of minorities is not overlooked with regard to any economic stimulus plan. He probably could have word it better, but the gist of what he was trying to say isn't difficult to understand.

The "brown contruction workers" are working, because they haul their asses down to Home Depot at 6 am to find work. The "brown agriculture workers" are working because they are standing there in the center of every farm town in America looking for work.

Let's see if that sparks the thread up!

its cringeworthy isn't it. I genuinely feel sorry for those people who are frankly stupid. Economic advisor my a$. But then Obama isn't the sharpest tool in the box either.

How do you measure stupidity?

how long is a piece of string?

Yeah, you have to admit from that point of view Bush was a bit of a failure. If you are going to be an imperialistt, you ought to at least get something out of it.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

britty has a knack for calling prominent political figures she doesn't like as being stupid, but doesn't bother to explain why. Saying something that is stupid is one thing. Actually being stupid is another.

In both respects George W. Bush was a notable success ;)

Bush had said and done enough stupid things to question his intelligence. We might argue over whether Robert Reich said something stupid, but the man is far from being stupid. There is a difference, but apparently that evades britty.

After reading the red portion I think he used the term "white construction workers" to be more of a cliche than a literal thing. I was thinking the same thing when I heard about the jobs to be created. At first I was like, oh great, just the people who know how to build bridges, etc. will benefit so no job for my husband. Don't get me wrong, we need new bridges, etc. but there are a lot of other people out there in need of jobs. Just my take on it.
