Allison is in Scotland, and has to travel 300+ miles to London for the interview. I'm free during Spring Break in March, and I'd like to accompany her there. She has just received (last week) the letter from the embassy.

Can she/we request a date for the interview during the time I can be there? I know it can't hurt to try, but has anyone had success with the embassy accommodating their schedule?

Our first visit to the Embassy in London in March 2009 went horribly wrong because of missing paperwork. It took a whole year with papers going back and forward from NVQ to USCIS before we got the next appointment. Knightbridge Doctors then said that there were some medical problems to sort out and so we're still waiting. Oh and everything had to be paid again, so we are not happy bunnies!

I dunno what it's like in Scotland, but in Manila they let you pick whichever day you want. For that reason I would assume you won't have any problems ^_^ Just get on their embassy website and hunt down the phone number over there to make sure. Good luck!
