Hello Everyone,

My wife and I are residents of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I'm the USC and she is australian. We filed our DCF at the consulate in Amsterdam in December. All is well. Physical complete, the only thing we're waiting on is the background check from the Australian Federal Police.

They recieved it on December the 23rd and started processing. I guess the fingerprint division decided to shut down for a couple of weeks for the holidays (I Believe they said 3 weeks), last time we called.

It's now < 2 weeks before the final interview and we dont have the Austrailian background check and when we called last night it was still processing, no way to track it, and no way to get the delivery sent express mail.

What do I do if this doesnt arrive in time? I absolutely have to be on the plane back to the states on 14 February. Can I bring my wife to the states and USCIS picks up where DOS left off?

The US Consulate is willing to accept a fax or email copy of the documents sent directly from the A. federal police force to process us until the original arrives but I still dont even know if they can do that.

any ideas or thoughts?

You will probably pass the interview but the visa issuance will be on hold until they receive all the documentation - I've seen this happen a couple of times. I don't reckon they will issue the visa without it.

But you can of course come to the US first and your wife can follow once she gets it.

Good luck.

As we speak my wife just got off the phone with the Aussies. They cannot email or fax it to the embassy nor can they post it express, but it was completed last night, and it will be in the mail to Europe today.

so we have about two weeks to get it...oh thank god. Our appointment is on 05 February at 1330.

In Sydney if you haven't submitted all the required documentation to them prior to the interview you can still have your interview but they will not issue your visa until after they receive it.

This almost happened to me but thankfully my police certificate came the day before my interview.

Good luck with yours!
