$400.00 for Visa Application?

Hi! My husband & I have decided to go for this CR-1 Visa.

I just paid for the AOS- $70.00 and am still working on the Affidavit of Support. My husband completed the DS-3032 and emailed it to the NVC, which we are still waiting to get a response from them.

I just called NVC in regards to a few other questions and was told that we will eventually have to pay $400.00 for the Visa application...is this true?

Thanks

Yes, that is correct. Once NVC accepts DS3032 then they will generate IV fee(DS230) which is $400.00.

Okay...great :)

Again, they still have not sent a response from that DS-3032, which was emailed to them. The NVC told me that it could take up to 2 weeks.

I'm just having trouble with the Affidavit of Support. I understand that I will complete the I-864 (whether I work or not) BUT if my father (who I live with) can be my joint sponsor...he would have to complete the I-864 A...correct? Because he is a household member?

If, I can get a close family friend to be a joint sponsor (rather than my father)...they would also complete the I-864 rather than the I-864A...correct?

I recently came back from Europe (with my hubby) and am looking for a job. I am having a hard time with the Affidavit of Support, I just worry about using my dad b/c he is in & out of the hospital. Hedefinitely would be able to help me but I would hate bothering him.

Anyway, so my husband has to complete the DS-230, which he DOES NOT Sign or complete the 2nd page correct? He then would have to mail that to me, along with a copy of his birth certificate, police records, a copy of his passport, 2 passport pictures...ANYTHING ELSE?

When I receive all of that, I can mail it to NVC...correct?

Thank you so much!

Yes, you can have a close friend be a co-sponsor if they meet the requirements (income 125% above poverty level and satisfying the number of people they support (spouse, children) and your husband).

Hubby does not sign the DS-230 until he has his interview - he has to sign it in front of them.

Good luck with your visa journey!

Ultimately this is less than a K-3 visa, when factoring in Adjustment of Status. The Department of State fees for CR-1 costs more than K-3 ($470 vs $131) but USCIS hammers the K-3 with their $1010 Adjustment fee, which CR-1 does not have to do.

K-3:

I-130: $355

I-129F: NONE

Consulate: $131

AOS: $1010

($1496)

CR-1

I-130: $355

NVC I-864: $70

NVC Visa fee: $400 ($355+$45)

($825)

Yes, anybody willing to serve as your co-sponsor can do so as long as they make over 125% above poverty level.

And yes, your husband fills out the DS-230 and signs only PART I, Part II is signed in front of the CO the day of his interview.

You should also check out these two DOS links to see the list of civil documents you will need to submit along with the DS-230 and have them ready. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html & http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc..._3538.html#docs.

Do we need to notarized the I-864 or not?? And if my wife sent all the DS230 and DS3032 to mail should she wait to get the barcode or i can make the barcode for her and paste it in the form?

ah yes.....the ir1/cr1 process is sooo costly....but I don't think there's room to complain when you compare it to the cost of the K3 in the long run you know....now that's breaking the bank!

I heard that we do not have to have the !-864 notarized.

Yeah, I remember reading that somewhere to.....now, only if I could remember where <_< .

I-864 does NOT need to be notarized.

Are the Affidavit of Support forms required to be notarized?

No. The sponsor just has to sign the form. You should know however, when the sponsor signs an Affidavit of Support form, he/she certifies that the information provided, transcript and/or photocopy of tax documentation is true and correct, under penalty of perjury.

http://travel.state.gov/pdf/I-864GenInfo-FAQ-Final.pdf

NOTE: The I-134 used for K-Visas no longer needs to be notarized either.
