Gore to Appear Before Congress Next Week

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry (D-Mass.) today announced that Former Vice-President Al Gore will testify before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on climate change and the importance of U.S. leadership. Gore will discuss the latest climate change science and the implications for the future of our planet.

“My friend and former Senate colleague Al Gore is one of this nation's leading authorities on the subject of climate change, and we are honored that he has agreed to appear before the Committee,” said Kerry. “Al Gore has been sounding the alarm on climate change for over three decades, and he understands the urgent need for American engagement and leadership on this issue. America must act decisively in order for the nations of the world to reach agreement on a climate change treaty at the December 2009 meeting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Copenhagen, Denmark. The timeline is short for us to respond to the threat of climate change, and this hearing will examine what America must do to lead the world in crafting a truly global solution.”

When I forced myself to watch Gores' Academy Award winning documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth", actually brought back fond memories when I was learning how to count to three in preschool, but Gores' dissertation wasn't nearly as complicated.

See that Bush's Skull buddy Kerry invited him, is Obama also going to be there? Or wouldn't it be bad for his image to hang around with white trash?

Can only wonder if Gore actually knows the definition of climate, meteorological elements, including temperature, precipitation, and wind, for a localized region averaged over a period of a very long time, he can only go back about 30-40 years with a 5 billion old earth. With his Southern Baptist background, probably believes the earth is only 4,000 years old.

Well he would like to turn America back to the 60's, if that means bringing us back our catalytic converter free vehicles and our smoke stacks for more jobs, the more power to him. Global warming has to be caused by the EPA that got rid of all this good stuff. I mean, according to Gore, our climate is getting worse, but was good in the 60's, can only blame the EPA for that.

Bollocks.

We're doomed.

Why can't they get a real expert or 10, people that know the science, can debate the science and not get tangled up in a specious collage of cherry-picked data and misleading sensationalism, a la Al. The man's piéce de resistance was taken apart in an English court of law (well known for being stern and authoritarian - NOT), as objective a forum as you can get, as unreliable based on its content and the way it picked only those parts of its reference data that served to reinforce the point he wanted to make. An Inconvenient Truth will live up to its name, because it's likely to become very inconvenient for the real climate scientists, as they try to get past the sensationalism of the public view of the world climate and get to the actual science behind it.

I give Mr Gore one thing. He's right about some of the simple things we can do to save energy and our own money. Since I replaced my light bulbs with the Al Gore approved version 2 months ago, I've seen a 30% reduction in my electricity usage those 2 months. It screwing with my level pay plan. My actual balance was $12.00! in my 2nd month of the year. Those bulbs paid for themselves the first week I bought them. I'm actually amazed.

Gee, don't you turn off lights that you ain't using? Do you clean under your frostless refrigerator and keep your furnace filter clean? Use a micron filter and take your shoes off before going in your home so you don't have to vacuum as frequently.

Our electric rates have tripled in the last two years, most of it is hydro, and can't get an answer from anyone what that has to do with the price of OPEC oil, I don't need Al Gore to tell me what to do, but need to find somebody honest in our government. Now that is impossible.

Do you think Al Gore is honest? Did you follow his advice and buy a hybrid car? Does he get a kickback from Toyota? Certainly has a very rich lifestyle, someone is giving him cash.
