Driving License in Pennsylvania

Hi

After reading some of the threads I am more confused. I have downloaded the forms for Learners application.

Somehow, it seems that I will not get the license before marriage and AOS ? Although, I did not come across

this explicitly, this info might be buried somewhere, am I trying to do this before marriage in vain ?

Also, can I get the medical done (2nd page in the application) in another state i.e. NY. My relatives are doctors there and I will save dollars ?

We applied for marriage license and we will probably get married in next week but I can hardly wait for AOS and

apply for license. Its like house arrest sitting back at home all the time.

Anybody sought a license in PA pls ?

actually my husband got here in Nov

i went to the Department of Motor vehicle, or as in PA, PENNDOT

I got a driver's manual, which is free

study that first

then when ready you can go and take the written test

however there is a list of things you will need

and if you call the number they will tell you specifically what you need to take that test

fees

documents and ID

if i find the number I will post it

but you can go online under PENNDOT

and search for your city to find any PENNDOT locations to go get the book

read this pdf carefully

you need a learner's permit for 6 months prior to driver's license

so scroll slowly and read carefully

it should tell you everything you need to apply for the learne's permit and take the written exam

I was about to update here. I need marriage cert. before applying for learners permit. In fact, everything stops till I get a marriage certificate.

There is no need to wait for six months though - only for kids below 18 years, to get DL.
