Is it a good idea to move out of state when applying for AOS?

My husband will be arriving to the USA tomorrow on his K3 visa, I would like to move to a different state immediately if possible. Is it better we stay in the state we applied for his K3 visa? We live with the co-sponsor of his case, but if we move we will both be living away from the co-sponsor and both will not be working till he gets approved to work since I do not work myself.

Do they do the AOS interview in the state we applied or can it be done in a different state?

Also does anyone have any links telling me how to apply for my husbands AOS?

Just make sure you file the AR-11 within 10 days after moving.

I would move before filing AOS and not change address during the AOS process. That can really cause problems. We expected to move between filing AOS and completing it, so used my daughter's home address as in "in care of" address. We ended up moving a few months later than planned but you'll see horror stories all over VJ from people who moved during the AOS process.

From what I've read you can change the state in which you interview. One big problem seems to occur with address changes and crucial USCIS notices not being received. One way to avoid this if you move is to sign a family member on to assist you per G-28. Then identical notices will be sent to them and to you, so you are whole lot less likely to miss them. On the form you check box 4 and explain who this person is. Both your husband and the "representative' will have to sign it. If a family member was willing to co-sponsor, I imagine they would be willing to do this for you. They can be as involved or as uninvolved as you agree with them, or they are willing to be. I signed on because my son was traveling a lot and then working where contacting him was nearly impossible. It has worked out very well. They expect to be moving during the AOS process (no choice for them), so are asking me to sign on again.
