What evidence did you submit with the N-400? From what I've gathered from various forms (the instructions and the naturalization guide), I see we need to submit:

  • 2 passport photos
  • copy of the green card
  • check/money order
  • my (the US spouse) birth certificate
  • current marriage certificate
  • documents referring to us:
    • tax returns, mortgage, lease or
    • IRS certified copies of our joint tax returns for 3 years or
    • IRS transcripts for last 3 years
Is this really all? I guess I'm so used to providing boatloads of evidence that this just seems like nothing. No need to send other proofs like joint bank accounts, copies of letters addressed to us as a couple, joint ownership of our car, pictures of us together?

12/07/08 - Adopted the fuzzy feline love of my life, my Squeaky baby th_catcrazy.gif

Anything that I could think of that had both of our names and addresses on it, property tax bill, life, home, auto, and health insurance, AKC registration on our dog, plus everything listed above by Stella. Also colored copies of both my wifes' and my drivers licenses on the same sheet of paper, that proves we both live at the same address. Enclosed photos of us to let them know we are real people. I thought it was stupid to send in copies of our utility bills, but a friend of my wife was requested to send those in at her interview, so enclosed those too. And recalled in our phone directory that Nick and Connie were listed, as was just Nick, and just Connie with the same phone number and address, so made an enlarged copy and sent that in as well. Lack of evidence was not our problem, neither was the civics nor the English test for my wife. But her IO misplacing her file was.

Oh, wifes' Venezuelan Passport was made with our current USA address and her married name, and our marriage was registered in Venezuela with all that apostile stuff, sent in colored copies of that as well.

Had three stacks when done, the originals, a set of copies to be sent in, and a spare set in case they lost the first set, that has happened. Used a yellow highlighter on only the copies to make life easy for them, and you have to bring in your original documents, this time, her IO wanted to see those too.
