Hello,

I have the following situation: wife and I were granted the PR status (Diversity Visa) this year, and we decided not to bring the baby with us in the US at this time. The wife went back home immediately after landing and we did not apply for an immigrant visa for the baby because we did not wanted him to travel since he was very young (3 months old). My question is- what is the easiest and fastest option to bring him to the US? We intend to do this next year.

Regards,

Lars

Start the process NOW by filing an I-130 as an LPR, the wait time is about 5 years to bring the child of an LPR. If you become a citizen you can update the petition and a Visa number will be available then. Good Luck :)

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

I recommend you/your wife discuss the possible options with the consulate that issued your visas. Maybe you can ask for "follow-to-join"... but be aware of a deadline for that.

You need to plan your actions so it does not happen that you have to sponsor your son (and maybe your wife if she losses her residency by spending more time in home country then in the USA) by filing I-130, as that will take 5+ years to bring him (them) to the USA.
