My father (LPR) filed an I130 application for me K4 (son over 25) back in Aug 2001. This was approved on 24th July 2006.

When we went to the local office we were told that I had to wait for a visa to be available. I'm figuring this to be another 9months or so before I is available (current visa times for 2b categories is May 2000).

My questions are these:

1. Am I wrong in thinking that the visa time is for when this petition was originally filed ie 2001 or am I waiting for when this was approved (2006)?

2. Can anyone tell me what happens when this visa becomes available. ie Do they contact my father saying a visa is available? How long after a visa is available would it take before I am definately a LPR?

3. I understand I will need to go through an interview, also my father and his wife. Can this be done from my own country (United Kingdom) and what sort of questions do they ask/info required by them?

I've been pinning my hopes that once a visa is available to me I would be able to stay in the USA almost immediately and the worst of this would be over but i've been disappointed often (it seems that everyone else gets this sorted within a few years) and this process is very long (8 years so far)so any help would be appreciated.

If he were to become a citizen then you would have the VISA number as they are on applications filed in July of 2002.

2. They will contact your father make sure that the National Visa Center has his current address if he has moved.

3. You will be intervied in your country, as far as the question sorry I cna not help you

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?
