Even with the increase in Population since 1981, The inaugural Of Barack Obama this week drew less viewers

than Ronald Reagans Inaugural, over a quarter a century earlier.

But Obama-bots, fear not... The Media coverage was many times that of any President and perhaps greater than all former Presidents combined.

Even though The Media was fixated on "all things Obama" on Tuesday, Americans in even greater numbers tuned in to watch.... you guessed it; "American Idol".

-------------

Nearly 37.8 million Americans watching at home viewed President Barack Obama’s oath of office and inaugural speech between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET on January 20, 2009. This is the most viewed inauguration since the record of 41.8 million viewers who watched Ronald Reagan’s 1981 inauguration.

This is the first inaugural since Nielsen began tracking time-shifted viewing, and this year’s data is based on Live + Same Day, meaning incremental viewing during the same broadcast day is included.

Sounds like "sour grapes" there Nowhereman.

 You're a tard... your guy lost & you make senseless threads like this one & I have sour grapes? Not that it matters but I thought Reagan was an excellent President. Unlike people like you I judge Presidents on their actions vs. blindly supporting a party's candidate no matter how bad he is.

Now please go find some more useless trivia or mindless rhetoric before you cry yourself to sleep.

Ha, I was actually contacted by Nielsen to let them know what I was viewing, with whole bunch of forms to fill out. Just wrote back, have better things to do than to sit in front of a box. But can certainly wonder for those that do, do they actually report what they view, or just check off this or that on those long forms?

And let's face facts, watching the inauguration is boring, got all I need to know from listening to that five minute PBS radio news every half hour. But also feel it's ridiculous for anyone to put all their faith in one man. Prefer to have that faith in myself.

Ha, do plan to contact Obama with complaints if need be, just to learn if he will actually listen. That is what Americans should do, instead of complaining to each other.

same here.....reagan in a sense was like obama....after carter had lost world respect...economy was slumping..and people were ready for a change..

also, both reagan and obama were great speakers...

Kinda think you're going to be disappointed if that's your plan. Your best bet is to contact your Congresspersons. Their job is to listen to you.

I would suggest this says more about the way people 'consume' their media than anything about the actual numbers of people who watched the inauguration in some form or another, assuming of course that when they say 'viewed' what they mean is 'viewed on a tv' as apposed to some kind of internet streaming device. That said, snoresville, what a boring way to spend time...
