It's an automatic visa denial if foreigner has EVER been arrested before, no matter how minor, even if it was just the ONE time in their entire life? Never had a problem before or since? I have been wondering that---that seems extremely HARSH! Especially if it can be explained etc.

No, some people get the visa even if the beneficiary has been arrested AND convicted. It really depends on what the crime is; if the crime is what the US considered "moral turpitude" (drugs, sex), then you'll have a very very difficult time getting approved. If it is something else, and especially if it's been a while ago, it will come up at interview but you could pass without even a waiver. I remember one CR1 beneficiary on here- from France if I remember right- who had two shoplifting convictions in her teens and got approved.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
