Charles, there's no denying that the Bush Administration took a much different approach toward interrogating enemy combatants than what had been done before. He used his legal team of hacks to decide what are appropriate forms of interrogation.

Good thing the U.S. never tortured POWs during the Vietnam War. That's one of the things that made us so popular around the world during that war. Ah, the good old days! LBJ and Nixon were so much better than that mean old Bush guy.

If Bush wasn't endorsing any different interrogation techniques that previous administration had also openly endorsed, then why did he need his legal hacks to re-define torture? Pretty silly to say that LBJ or Nixon openly endorsed any treatment of POW's that disregarded Geneva Convention rules.
