You never left the playground did you...

I'm still struggling to understand what is wrong with "rebuttal". Perhaps the issue here is that you just can't take having your views challenged.

Guess again. I actually like being challenged but in your case you are not interested in discussing. Cutting down does not equate to challenging. Either does teaming up on those you do not agree with. Or are you going to deny that as well...

I bet I could stop posting for a year yet when I came back you would still be here having the same sort of arguments with other posters you don't like.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Next you'll tell me that you're good at working with people. Even that Milton character from Office Space had that on his resume.

Can you show me where you have engaged in a normal discussion with people you clearly butt heads with? Now lets compare this with how many posts of your are basically a rebuttal.

The question perhaps is not "can I" but "why should I".

If I felt the need to massage my ego to disprove arbitrary allegations from you - I might indulge. As I don't... you'll have to do your own digging I'm afraid.

Of course you will not. I don't expect someone guilty or something to prove me correct.

Don't sit here and pretend you are interested in a discussion as the majority of your posts suggest otherwise. Every time I come to VJ and see you pulling the same ####### I will catch you out. Simple as that.

I know, who knew?

Oh, that would be everyone who has ever watched the train wreck that inevitably occurs when BY uses his logic and reasoning skills. It's fascinating in a way, particularly how it so often plays out exactly the same time, after time, after time. Still, it's midly entertaining during my office 'downtime'.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I suppose it is easy to "stone" Andrew Jackson in our day (and even in his time) but as there are often 2 sides to most parts of history, it likely there is another side here as well.

Andrew Jackson had more knowledge about Indians than anyone else in Washington and certainly more than any other President. He fought with them and against them all across the south, even down into Florida.

I did a report on Him once and while he does get a bad rap for buying out the Indians and the Shameful way in which they were relocated, no one ever claimed he disliked or had a agenda against Indians (the same can't be said for the British, which he hated).

Rather my guess is, he was a practical man and from his experience with Indians and even serving as a Governor of sorts for a short period he concluded that two unyielding things were colliding, Indians and Settlers.

Sure today we would like to say "Can't we all just get along" but we are talking about two very different civilizations, and while a few tribes did adapt to the change that Immigration and expansionism brought, most could not.

These areas had very little Law and such as they had held no rule over Indians, as thievery and other more serious crimes were committed, Militias would form and soon min-wars would erupt.

JAckson made a deal with Indians as best he could, offering millions of dollars and of course land .... land much farther west.

As tribal-wars were no rare thing, one tribe often took lands (and other Indians as slaves) of another tribe... no payment was ever made so, one could weakly claim we treated the American Indian more fair that they treated each other.

The Romantic version of this Beautiful... yet sometimes extremely Savage race of People is

myth that just won't die. Because of this, we to often base our Judgments of others in history a little to harshly I think.

Before you stone Jackson (or me) first, offer what YOUR SOLUTION would have been to defuse the growing population and the friction that seemed to be persistent when whites and Indians inhabited the same area?

My great great (I'm not sure how many greats) was believed to have been Cherokee...who were forced under Jackson to move westward on a journey that became known as the Trail of Tears.

Poetic justice here as you've started so many Threads of Tears. This one may be one of your most irrelevant, Chief Writing Bull.

The idea that people shouldn't talk about things that he doesn't like is pretty odd.

I hereby declare Aficionado the official agenda setter of OT.

just watch out if he starts to hand out blankets.

Cleo Cleo Cleo Whenever I am away from VJ I quickly pop back to see what it going on. Here is the usual rundown:

  • AJ is creating BS threads
  • Steven is creating Liberal propaganda threads
  • You are being witty and obviously believe you are oh so much smarter than everyone else.
  • Hal is acting like he's a tripped out hippie.
  • Six is rebutting someone, asking for evidence or disagreeing in general.

So don't give me this ####### about a train wreck or reasoning skills. Out of curiosity, does anyone here actually know anything about you like your first name, age, background etc. Or even something as simple as what part of America you live in.

SoCal.

Now you're going to respond with some comment about how you don't read every post.

No duh. Since you don't, why assume no one knows what you don't know?

Oddly enough I know more about cleo than I do about BY. And I'm not even curious.

Of course to use his defective reasoning my lack of knowledge about his family, occupation, annual income, street address and social security number is actually his fault for being secretive.

Who knew...
