congrats....

but fill in your timeline so it can be analyzed and compared to others

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

The NVC simply processes your petition and sends it off to the Embassy you will interview with. It's normally a matter of just days but it can get held up in security checks. You can call nvc (need to talk to a person..automated system does not handle k1's) to find out if/when it's been sent or you can call DOS to find out if it's already at the Embassy.

After the Embassy receives the approved petition (NOA2/I-797) the beneficiary will most likely receive a packet containing forms to send back. Each Embassy is different in how they handle the process. Some will ask that you download forms...some will send out packet 3(information packet) and packet 4(interview packet). It's important to know how things are handled where you will interview.

good luck.
