why do we spend our time talking about gays and economy, depression and lightbulbs?

Don't any of you guys go FISHING? lets talk about FISHING.

Dammit it's the winter, it's 1459 below zero, I MISS FISHING!

Winter didn't stop me from fishing a while back, ice fishing is very popular in Wisconsin, can even erect a tent. Even have battery operated drills now so you don't have to chop a hole, but make sure that hole is large enough to pull through the fish you are planning to catch. Then there are portable depth finders with water temperature so you know how deep to drop your line. Also portable DVD and TV players so you won't get bored.

Another trick was to fill a coffee can with concrete, put in an old clock spring with a bell hanging on it and tie your line to that. So you can sleep until the bell rings.

Sound like lotsa fun nick.........but you must feel like a cup of frozen yogurt.......what kinda fish are u able to land in the ice?

You can read about it here: http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/fish/faq/icefis.htm

Life is so artificial in the cities, everything comes in plastic. Was born in Chicago, but never liked living there, even as a very young kid. Lake Michigan is great for coho and lake trout, some as large as 26 pounds, did a lot of that too. Wife is a city girl, but her and her daughter are beginning to see nature. Took them to a virgin forest last year, camping, well, in an air condition motorhome if that counts, but cooked outdoors, they loved it. We got a kayak, but need to dig out my fishing poles, and looking at a 25' Sea Ray and thinking about it. Has dual 4 cylinder engines, shouldn't be too bad on gas when trolling with one engine going.

Sounds exciting. I love the great outdoors. I'm a city kid too. But I managed to buy some acreage in upstae NY.

I've been boating for yrs. Twin 4 I/Os on a 25 searay should be quite fast if you need speed. And the fuel consumption should be at a minimal. But I think it'd be a bit difficult to troll with 1 motor. I have twin inboards on a 32 footer and it's hard to run on 1 engine on idle and go straight. Yet my minimum speed is around 3.5 knots on 2 engines. Sometimes I wanna do 2 (like trolling a spoon), and its difficult. This area from Montauk to Sandy Hook is famous for striped bass fishing. And we land some nice ones to 50 lbs. If we go off shore a bit, to the hudson canyon, we sometimes come across tunas. And man-o-man, when we hook up a 200 pounder......that makes the cost and preparation all worth it.

If you think that was cool you chould check this one out. The Mekong are HUGE. Other neat game fish are Airapima and Payara. I´d say rays but there is no good meat on them.
