There's some big azz deer in Texas no?where are u now? I hunt in NY, on an apple orchard. And I have some acreage of my own by Monticello NY.

I've only seen golden retriever sized deer since moving here. After living in areas where deer do get big ... TX deer need some miracle grow in the diet.

My co-workers show me their TX deer pics ... and I keep thinking ... there is something that isn't big in this part of TX ...

an auto repair place here had a shoulder mount 18 point that the lead mechanic got with a bow. dang deer looks like a forest growing on his head.

as for fishing, there's ponds, lakes, and the river.

Winter didn't stop me from fishing a while back, ice fishing is very popular in Wisconsin, can even erect a tent. Even have battery operated drills now so you don't have to chop a hole, but make sure that hole is large enough to pull through the fish you are planning to catch. Then there are portable depth finders with water temperature so you know how deep to drop your line. Also portable DVD and TV players so you won't get bored.

Another trick was to fill a coffee can with concrete, put in an old clock spring with a bell hanging on it and tie your line to that. So you can sleep until the bell rings.
