Hello good people...

I have been going to Jamaica for many years. I have had my fun, made good friends and come back home.

I have never entertained the idea of a long distance relationship, let alone a visa journey.

BUT...

In the words of Beres Hammond... "what one dance can do" :D

Love truly knows no boundaries and when it happens, we must accept it with open arms. Life is too short not to.

So here I am, looking for people in the same situation, and trying to learn all I can about what may be ahead.

I am interested in first getting him a visitors visa to test the waters...

Have any of you done this? Care to share some insight with a newbie???

I will look around and try to learn from the information already posted here instead of ask ten billion questions.

Just letting ya'll know there is a newbie in the house

its a wonderful thing to find kin and u have certainly found it here.. a place to smile and say "Oh ok, i am not crazy"..

like hotlegz said, a visitor visa is VERY difficult to obtain out of Jamaica but if ur SO has a job, a home etc, and he can afford to, he should try.. my SO was just approved last year. good luck

Thanks everyone for the responses!!

I was lurking in the yardie thread while ya'll were posting in here :star:

Dancehall :)

I never ridiculed anyone, but I did wonder why they chose to take on such a journey. The road is not easy from what I understand...

What I did not understand was how if you really love someone, there is no road too rocky...

This place is a LOT more open minded than where I come from on the WWW ;)

I look forward to spending some time with people who understand, and believe that not every person in JA is using their foreigner for a green card :bonk:

:D

I am sad to hear the visitors visa is not so easy to get :(

Time will tell what is the best route for me...

again, thanks for the welcome! B)

Nice line - Welcome JAPrincess

If you are lurking on JA boards, I am sure we can guess which one -

Come on down to the Yardies - don't try to keep up, just jump into the conversation - it's a typical JA party - a million topics at once
