hi rick when we process my k1 visa before, it takes them so long to give my visa they put me in AR back in philippines. my husband called senator warner and i think warner called US embassy in the philippines coz his secretary contacted my husband the following day that my visa is ready for pick up. it wont hurt you if you try to call them it will speed up the process.

Just curious, has anyone sent letters to their Senators or Representatives about the excessive amount of time to process K-3 visas? If so, did you receive any help or assistance?

Here is our experience:

6/10/8-touch

6/11/8-touch

9/3/8-letter to Congressman requesting an inquiry

9/25/8-received standard generic answer from USCIS regarding case

9/26/8-requested further, more detailed inquiry by congressman

9/26/8 afternoon-touch

9/27/8- touched again!!!

10/14/8- congressman response to my request for further details of case: your case has not been reviewed or sent to an adjudicator

11/6/8-update review request processed by an officer at VSC

11/10/8- faxed another letter to congressman asking for an inquiry as to why my case is not considered "outside normal processing times" (since they're clearly posted as 6 months)

11/14/8--answer from congressman---WE'RE in the ADJUDICATION QUE!!!!

12/31/8--approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It did not speed up the process, but gave us some insight as to where our case was in the process. AND our congressman is going to write a letter to the consulate when we get an interview..i think thats pretty nifty :)

The last contact that his office had with VSC, infuriated the rep and she brought up the shortcomings of VSC to the congressman. Will it help? I dont know.

Good Luck

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

I have sent Senator Webb's office three letters. The last one was asking how many adjudicators, quotas, how many exceed quotas - meet - do not meet quota.... Also asked why foreign workers get approved in 2 months but spouses 7-9 months. Also asked if they were enforcing the L.I.F.E. Act... Wanted them to remember me.

How do know if your application (I-130 or I-129F) are touched?

thanks

rick

I sent an e-mail to my representative about 2-3 weeks ago with no response as of yet...but then last week our case got transferred from VSC to CSC. Don't know if my e-mail had anything to do with it or if it was just luck of the draw. I say it can't hurt to bug them. As my Dad says, "squeaky wheel gets the grease."

touches-when you register your cases on the USCIS website. There is a "last updated" above each file. When/if that date changes...its a "touch"

touches-when you register your cases on the USCIS website. There is a "last updated" above each file. When/if that date changes...its a "touch"

here are two issues/questions:

NOA1 on 10 Nov 08 - still not in USCIS database for on-line viewing. Why does it take over two months to post. My I-130 is in the system but that does not show any touches or anything, just sitting there....

second issue - my second letter to senator asked about quality and quantity of adjudicators, quotas, etc. They responded to my senator that basically it was none of our business and is not germane to the case. My response to my senators office was it it germane and it is the central issue. If they do not have enough adjudicators or their quotas are too low then there are problems that need to be addressed... They are drafting a letter to either the director of USCIS or his office with full expectations of getting answers to the questions.

I will keep you posted.... To be continued.

Rick,

There is a USCIS oversight committee made up of senators. A bunch of us here from VJ all sent letters to each of them. I never received a response from any of them, but it did make me feel like I was trying to do SOMETHING.

I cant go look up the link right now, but its here somewhere. heh

Good Luck, and do keep us posted.

I have met with one Congressman personally, had two inquiries each from two seperate Congressmen and now working on a Senator. So far, no use whatsoever. I gave them more info than they were able to give me. The immigration problem is known by them but does not gain their attention due to the fact that it is well hidden and unimportant to the public-at-large.
