Hello to all! I'm a new member, but I know a little bit about the various processes surrounding fiancée and spousal visas. My story is a little bit different and I am actually needing help in deciding what visa is the right one for me and my fiancée.

I'm from England and my fella is in the US airforce. He's based in England and that's how we met. He proposed to me recently and I know that we need to kick start all the paperwork (visas etc). The thing is, he's got 3yrs left in the Airforce and he's going to spend the remainder of that time in England. He wants us to get married, have me move in with him on the base etc. So what visa would be the best for us? I don't think there's any point getting a K-1 visa as we're getting married within the next 6 months and I wont be moving to America for at least 3yrs. So surely that one would be kinda pointless? Would the K-3 visa be more suited? But what rules are there for him to be able to marry me in England... and continue to stay in England due to work? It's all very confusing!

Has anyone else been through this before?

Your best bet (in my opinion) is to get married as planned - have your life together - as time nears for him to leave England (and presumably move back to the US) you should look into DCF (Direct Consular Filing) from London.

Hiya, thanks for your reply!

Would I not need a visa to live on the US airbase with him here in England?

I suggest getting married and filing the I-130 (petition for a family member). I am assuming that you will need a visa to live on base. However, I would check with a military lawyer for verification. Congrats!

Have him check what is needed with his commanding officer. Surely they would be able to point him in the right direction.
