HEllo guys,

I'm the petitioner and I need my mom to be my co-sponsor cause I have problem with my income. What form should my mom use, I-864 or I-864A??? She lives in different household. I already asked this before and some people here said she must use I-864A. And now im confused cause I've read in Lingche shortcut and it said CO-Sponsor NOT IN SAME HOUSEHOLD will use I-864 and CO-sponsor in SAME HOUSEDOLD will use I-864A

Now I'm confused pls tell me what is the right form for my co-sponsor. Thank u

My mother-in-law, the petitioners mother, lives IN the same household as us. She filled in I-864A. Your mom doesn't live with you.

The I-864A is "A Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member". You require your Mom to fill in another I-864, so one for you and one for her. It's stated on page 3 of the I-864 that a joint sponsor is anyone who doesn't live in the petitioners household, regardless of whether they are family or not.

Hello,

We are planning to use a joint-sponsor, I am wondering if the joint-sponsor NEEDS to follow the poverty guidelines? My husband's household size is = 3 (himself, me and our son) so that means the total household size is 4? thanks!
