Hi! If anyone can answer this, or at least know where to point me in the right direction...

I just saw a form that shows the 125% above poverty level for the USC to have for sponsoring. It does say however that it will change in the spring of 2009. Just wondering if it would go up from what it is now....or will they have mercy because of the economy!! LOL....

I'm sure my interview won't be until summer sometime, so it possible that Tim will fall under the guidelines, and I need to be prepared in case it's risen.

*which...like everything else...it probably will be...*

If I'm paying child support, would I have to claim my daughter as "wholly dependent" or "partially dependent" on the I-134????

They will have no mercy, are you kidding??? These guidelines are what support the "welfare industry" and MUST be adjusted up every year in order to keep the same (or more) number of people "below the poverty line" in order to justify billions of tax dollars wasted to support government agencies to care for the poor. there is no intentiton to ever "end poverty" there is far too much money and government control in "fighting it"

Editorial comments aside, (moi? ne pas moi!) the poverty guidelines will be adjusted UP on March 1, 2009 and take affect at the consulates on April 1, 2009 and the amount of adjustment will be whatever the government needs to keep as many people dependent on them as last year, or slightly more so they can say poverty is "worse" and we need to confiscate MORE of your income. It is, roughly, connected to the Cost of Living index. Expect a 4.5-5% increase this year.

Child support classifies the child as "partially dependent"

I have a new question for this..

Tim owns his house...no mortgage on it. I would imagine that it could be considered an asset. Plus he has an IRA (?) I think that's what it's called..

I also own my house...no mortgage. When I sell it..would that be considered as well? I'm going to get a good chunk of change for it. I bring in a monthly government income as well. Not a whole lot, but rightfully mine, ( a survivor's benefit ) and I can still receive it after I'm married. How can that affect the income levels.

Tim is on disability, and although he is looking for work, there are MANY jobs he is not able to do for physical reasons...hence the disability...We're really trying to see about all other options before seeking a co sponsor.

Oh. I'm also going to be looking into the fact that I can collect Unemployment after moving!! ( I think I have to wait for my EAD)...but will that play into affect anywhere?

Thanks so much for you time and answers...
