I am on active duty in the US Army and with the nature of my work, I may or maynot be able to be present with my fiance for the K1 interview. Will it in anyway affect our application, if I'm not physically present at the embassy?

Sorry I keep coming back, but without each one of you guys i would have been in a complete mess. All ideas are welcomed

you dont have to be there at the interview.

i was by myself when i did cos my fiance couldnt take the time off from work. and he is in the US air force.

so dont worry about it.

i was alone at the embassy but everything went well.

good luck.

HEY! I'm in the Air Force TOO! When you prepared the I-134 Affadait of Support...did he add his base pay, BAH or OHA, COLA and BAS to the income block??? (ALL ENTITLEMENTS???)

I know my base pay alone should put me over the "100%" level, but I'm worried they might reject it and ask for more accurate earnings. All I got is several LES and maybe a W-2!

no. as long as you comply all requirements and follow instructions then its all good.

the fiance's presence is not a requirement. :)

oh hold on... his lawyer arranged the tax returns for him and faxed it over.

i hadnt had a chance to go through it cos i got his fax at 1am and my flight for manila (USEM) was at 5 that very morning.

and he dont remember what his lawyers prepared. he was on deployment when i asked for it.

but i remember just seeing a W2 - it was reviewed by the consul and was given a go.

hope i helped.

good luck!

The OP had better rely on one or more valid answers from people who have dealt with HIS embassy.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hey eveyryone, this is more related to the I-134 and whats needed for the interview. I included the I-134, W-2s from this year, and the past year of LES (pay stubs for civies that dont know)....DO THEY ABSOLUTELY NEED MY 1040s???????????????

I'm also military. I have an official letter from my command stating that a) I'm active duty in a certain paygrade and B) cannot be present at the interview. Two birds with one stone. It's an automatic given that you're meeting the income requirements if they have verification that you hold a certain paygrade. What I have:

- The aforementioned letter

- 2007 1040 (didn't send a W-2)

- Six months of LES from mypay.gov

I put a bunch of other stuff (eg. assets and side income) on the I-134 but i'm not sure it's really material since the verification that i'm military should be a "rubber stamp."

05AUG08 - Prepared I-129F at attorney's office

07AUG08 - Case received at VSC

13AUG08 - NOA1

18AUG08 - Touched

10DEC08 - NOA2

19DEC08 - Confirmed package left NVC, en route to Bogota

02JAN09 - Confirmed package received at Bogota

05JAN09 - Sent Package 3 by fax, waiting for some type of confirmation

09JAN09 - Called DOS, received appointment date of 09FEB2009, 0700

09FEB09 - Embassy appointment, visa approved
