Bare with me, please, I tried searching, I swear (and read the guides).

Received NOA2 in the mail today.

Questions:

  1. How do I find out when NVC received the paperwork? They mail me a letter?
  2. My fincee is in Moldova, so I requested the interview in Chisinau. Now it appears they do not process K-1's in that consulate, but send them to Bucharest, Romania. Will letter from NVC show which one we are assigned to?
  3. Packet #3, where in the world do I find the list?
  4. When do we find out about the date of the interview? From which piece of correspondence?

Many thanks for any help!

The NVC will send you a letter (sometimes multiple letters..) when they put the case into their computers but you can call them to see if they've recieved your case yet at: 603-334-0700. Then press 1 for English, then 2 for Fiancé cases, and it will connect you to an operator who'll ask you to verify a few details. Then they'll tell you when/if they got your case and if they sent it on to the Consulate yet :)

I'm not sure about your second question.. maybe ask the operator?

Packet 3 is sent to your fiancé(e) after the case arrives in their home country's embassy.. I think Packet 3 includes details of how to book your medical/interview, but I'm not sure... I know the interview date is confirmed in Packet 4, though. I'm going through that stage myself

Thanks, Biscuit! Question 2 was whether the consulate the case is assigned to is mentioned in the letter I am about to receive from NVC.

There's packet4?! What happened to 1 & 2? Oh, my poor head. . .

I'm not sure why it's 3 and 4... I'm confused too, haha..

Yeah I'm pretty sure Packet 4 is a checklist of what to bring/confirmation of the interview appointment.

Our letter mentioned London, I think. :star:

The letter from NVC will NOT say which embassy they forward it to. If you requested Bucharest that is where it should go, there is an offical form to request a change of consulate which is referenced in your NOA2 letter.

Packet 3 is available for download from the embassy website. Make sure you get it from the correct embassy, as they vary in their needs. DO NOT wait for them to mail anything, get the packet 3 now and get to work on it. I got packet 3 at the same time I filed the petition and when our case hit Kiev we were ready and made the interview appointment the next day. Packet 4 is a confirmation of appointment letter, you do not need it. When you make the appoinment they will give you an invitation number, date and time, that is all you need, the letter is just a repeat of what they already told you.

Hi!

Question #2Will letter from NVC show which one we are assigned to?

No need for other confirmation, Bucharest it is.

Packet #3, where in the world do I find the list?

In about a week or so(after the consulate in Bucharest receives your paperwork), they will send you the packet number 3.

It will have

----some instructions in it,

----the list of the clinics assigned by the embassy(you will have to choose one of them and scedule an appointment for the medical exam), that list will also be considered as a invitation to the clinic, so don't loose it,

-----the DS forms

and something else, but no worries, they will send it to you.

You can also dig in here http://www.usembassy.ro/Visas/Fiancee.html for more information

When do we find out about the date of the interview? From which piece of correspondence?

You're going to have to call and scedule the interview. They will not scedule it for you.

The thing is, your fiance(e) will need to get a visa for Romania first, so don't get carried away and scedule your interview for at least two weeks later. And when you'll call to scedule the interview, remind them to send a fax with the confirmation of your appointment in Bucharest to the romanian embassy in Chisinau.

Much luck!
