It's probably not the correct forum to write about this but o well.

Now I know that it probably sounds like something crazy but I just don't feel like waiting until who knows when to be with my husband. I never thought this would turn out to be SOOO hard.

Now I know that in order to get him over here I need to show proof that I'm working here but I just don't feel like going through this whole process.

They will most probably drop / deny our case when they get to it, huh? Unless through some miracle with a good affidavit they approve it.

Your feedback, encouragements and comments will be greatly appreciated.

Have a Blessed Day,

Ilana

We thought heavily about that during many points of this waiting.

People do it, they get a co-sponsor to cover the fact that they arent here working.

I say, if you can go there, live happily while you wait...GO FOR IT!!!!

good luck

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

So with a co-sponser alone I could be ok if I am not working, provided that the co-sponser makes enough?

Thats my understanding from reading peoples experience. Try posting this in the regional or consulate forums...you will probably hear from people who are or have done just that.

You would need a co-sponsor AND a US address that you will be able to move to once your husband has his visa.

You will still need to complete an affidavit of support, as you would still be the primary sponsor, even without income.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

That's correct. The address, however, could be an arrangement to live temporarily with parents, other family etc.

Yeah, so the address I would put would be my current address. So It would be ok for me to go ahead and do this provided I have a good co-sponcer?

I'd ask around anyone else here from DR who may have used a co-sponsor, find out what their experience was like at the interview if it gave them a problem, but otherwise, yeah sure, go stay with your hubby if you want.

I know of someone who had same problem. they solved it this way: he got hired part time with small income at some friends family business. he didnt work or really get paid, but paid taxes on the income showed in papers. so legaly he was employed, have income, tax payer, etc. he went and lived with his wife during the process; his job was supposed to be comp work, so again he was legal, because could have be done from anywhere. this way and with a co-sponsor to round the income, he managed to live with his wife and not fear a denial. of course he had to invest the money for taxes, but he said it worths to be safe. was like he'd pay to live with his wfe. their process went well just fine at the end.

enjoy life,

Andreea

If you can afford the move, GO FOR IT!!!! But check first the following things:

1. Make sure Dominican Republic processes DCF for US citizens there - and which are the residency requirements.

2. :guides: and visit the Direct Consular Filing forum.

3. Line up a co-sponsor --even if you will always remain the primary sponsor (a lot of DCF filers forget this!)

What's DCF?

Direct Consular Filing. This is open to USCitizens who reside abroad with their spouses. It results in a CR-1 or IR-1 immigrant visa; bypasses the whole NVC cr@p; and it is usually waaaay faster.

O so I probably wouldn't qualify for it. I just submitted the k-3 petition. :(
