Money order for $1010

Hi,

I CANNOT find any places where I can buy a money order for $1010. The maximum amount they sell is $1000. I know that we have to pay $930 for the I-485 application fees and $80 biometric fees. Is it ok if I buy one for $930 and one for $80??? Would that matter?

OR can I get a casheir check instead? It doesnt say in the instruction that I can use a casheir check so I am not sure.

P.S. Writing a check is not our option.

Have you tried the Post Office? Otherwise, a cashier's check made out correctly will do the trick.

Have you tried the Post Office? Otherwise, a cashier's check made out correctly will do the trick.

Yes, I did. They dont sell more than $1000. Do you think I can use a cashier's check instead?? Or just buy two money orders for $930 and $80???

I don't see why you couldn't do two money orders and the post office is dirt cheap compaired to other places.

I get a money order from my bank. If you have a bank account put the $1,010 into it and then withdraw it and just tell the bank teller you want a money order for that amount. It takes only a matter of minutes to do and works very well! hope that helps some!

Both will work fine.

Some bank has a rule for money order for less than $1000, and cashier's check for equal to or larger than $1000.

You can have two money order for each amount, or have single cashier's check for total amount.

Personally personal check will be much better since you can track when it will be cashed along with the case number written in front or back of canceled check.

But if you don't have a choice, you can use either two money orders, or single cashier's check.

Thank you very much guys!!! I think I am going to use two money order... To just be sure, the address that I put on money orders will be the address where I send the packet to which is USCIS P.O. BOX 805887, Chicago, IL, 60680-4120...Correct???

Do you have a check book or checking account? I wrote them a check in the amount of $1010.00 and I didn't have any problem with that at all.

What were you applying for, those amounts don't make sense...

to the OP, if you are sending two separate money orders, please send $930 + $80 at the very least, don't confuse things by splitting them equally or something

1010 + 365 = 1375......... I wrote 1365... it was a mistake... i should've written 1375

what i didn't realize is that the OP is just referring to the amount only on the I-485...

I paid for both applications

Aldo, are you referring to the application fee for AOS and I-130? AOS =$1,010 .....I-130 = $355.......the total fee for two applications would be $1,365
