It is what it is. A lot of people despise Bush.

Certain groups despised the guy from day one for the sole fact that he was a Republican and had a Bush surname. I like Obama but even if I did not I wouldn't write him off and hope he fails from day one. Whereas a good portion of those who actually fall, qualify, under the 'liberal' label never gave the guy a chance. If it wasn't the war it would have been something else. If it wasn't his public speaking abilities it would be his height. As I have said before, I was here in May / June 01 and remember chatting with a guy from San Fran who went on and on about how much he absolutely hated Bush. Yes he is one guy but not the only guy who was biased and prejudiced against Bush from day one. Dems / Reps were all Greek to me back then. For some the fact that he is not a Liberal means he is the enemy and must be destroyed at all cost.

Regardless to the ####### being spun about him, Bush is a good man.

"Certain groups" hate everything and everyone. It goes with the territory naturally - but pre-existing prejudice isn't the reason for Bush's atrocious approval rating in this and other countries.

Bush might well be a "good man", but that doesn't excuse him from criticism for being a shite president.

Like I said... some people are just impossible to please.

Bitterness can be an individual characteristic as other facets of a personality inasmuch as I now wish to chill with the ex-President over a Margarita or two and shoot the sh!t because I know that I would eventually (avoiding politics) leave the meeting laughing at his ducking sense of humor.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

but isn't that what a lot of people are doing with Obama?? they are writing him off before he has done anything...

I think that is just a case of them being cheeky. Obama will be a great leader.

While I don't agree with some of Bush's policies myself, he deserves respect. It is not as if he had Clinton like Golden years while in office. Yes he wasn't the best speaker and didn't engage in debates with people to defned or thoroughly explain his decisions but that does not mean he was some sort of fool to be joked on. He also wasn't the equivalent of a crooked leader like the governor in Chicago or clown mayor Negan in New Orleans. Ultimately he had the fate of the world on his shoulders. Something most of us will never ever understand or get to experience.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

My hopes can be communicated here as much as other's cacophonous speculations based in nonsense.

I must have missed the memo stating that only someone who throws out big words is entitled to an opinion. Must be a Chicago thing. As is corruption.

Bah!

I choose to self-impose. Nothing in the TOS limits my heuristic programming to the contrary.

Do notice my siggie... The rules only apply to me. My apologies if the counter is annoying but it is staying until I deem it necessary to remove it.

As for the second part- completely rhetorical. Should have said 'Obama appears to think he isn't above' as Bush has repeatedly done so in regards to every single procedural request for evidence AND for summons of subordinates that represented him. Perhaps he will don a similar cape of Bushesque tactics of governance... but I somehow doubt it with the program of government he is promising, his choices of government positions so far, and all the work he has cut out for him.

HAL, I only NOW read your siggy with why you add numbers to your posts! I have been wondering what on EARTH those numbers were, thinking it was just more computerized silliness. Well actually, I still think that. :D I'll have to analyze this number thing and let you know what I really think. Hmmmm *thinks very hard*.

Lord knows I don't think well of W and I think he's done a lot of harm to the country and beyond but I don't think that any President should be booed at on his way out of office. His return to Texas is reason the cheer!
