Ah yes - the "extreme left wing views". Clearly you've never heard of ambiguity - and that not everything must be reduced down into Left Vs. Right.

I know many conservatives who were decidedly against the invasion of Iraq, for instance. Even if no issues of morality were involved, there are pragmatic ones (Bush Sr. pulled back from invading Iraq for purely practical reasons). In most cases in recent times war has been proven to be the easiest but not the most sensible option. Short term visceral satisfaction. Instant gratification. Infantile, in other words.

War is never easy and no one ever said going to Iraq would be a walk in the park. Especially not a war against a group who hides amongst innocent people and is not afraid to kill them to make a point.

Obviously one cannot solve differences by attacking another, it just emboldens them. Then again acting as if this was some sort of personal vendetta is also erroneous. We took out a regime renowned for human violations. The same types of regimes that currently go unchallenged in places like Sudan. Diplomacy and revolutions are the best option but take decades if not generations to get through. Under the circumstances we did not have the time. At the time and based on the information at hand there was an imminent threat to America. If Bush had not acted on it and the United States had been attacked, he would have been eaten alive by the left. Especially considering it was so close to 9/11 when every single person was on edge.

Well for starters "What if" is pretty awful reasoning to justify a war.

We went into Iraq for geopolitical reasons that had nothing whatsoever to do with stopping Al Qaeda. Saddam as a secularist dictator was ideologically opposed to the sort of fundamentalism promoted by Bin Laden. The only reason we went in there was to strengthen the US prescence in the middle east.

And there was no "imminent threat to America" to justify us going to war with Iraq. That's a complete fabrication.

I wouldn't go that far. More like the usual derailment that can be pinpointed to one particular lame attempt at misdirection.

You were saying baldy?

of course- like having enough intelligence to exemplify Eric Hoffer's quote: "Rudeness is a weak imitation of strength."

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

1. How do you know this?

Anyone making him out to be some sort of Enron exec who was only in it for his own gain is wrong.

2. Why are they wrong?

You need to refer to an earlier posts in another thread where I pointed out that you do this. Why don't you show me how he is not a good guy and where he acted in bad faith? While you are at it, you can also show me how they are right?

Two can play your game mate.

Game? Whatever it is that you think I do is pretty irrelevant at the end of the day.

Obviously relevant enough for you to rebut whenever you see me post.

How many of your posts do I rebut mate? almost zero. So who is the one who is irrelevant.

The only reason we went in there was to strengthen the US prescence in the middle east.

The U.S. had plenty of forward airbases with supplies for quick deployments since the 1970s to counteract the fall of the Shah in Iran. You're off by 25 years.

There is also a saying that opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one :pop::lol: , carry on....

Honestly, i did not vote for Obama, for the simple fact I disagree with the policies, and past voting records, but that, of course is a whole other debate. People talked about me like I had a tail :reading: Since I could only think of one reason to vote for him, nonetheless, it was not a good enough reason to cast my vote in that direction...I can appreciate Bush for not wavering most of the time, which is a characteristic, so far, that I appreciate in Obama.

Yep. All have them, and then there are those that speak out of them more than the actual orifice designed for such a task.

Independent of your exercise in democracy and political belief (very clearly different from the delusional practice set out by some), a firm stance is only as good as the results that come about of them. And we can clearly see where that leads us with Bush. Its fairly unidirectional common sense.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
