I was reading through the guide to going through NVC quickly today as my husband just left me to go back to New York so I'm very lonely. I had a question about the documents that I, as the beneficiary, am supposed to mail into the NVC. Should I mail them from here or should I send them to my husband to mail- eg my birth certificate, passport pictures, copy of passport biographical info etc....

And if I should send them to my husband for him to forward on, what would be the best way to send them? FedEx? or should I rely on the great british postal service!

I also called NVC today and got my NVC reference number. Does this mean that now I can start calling up for my IIN?

Yes once I-130 hits NOA2 send the required documents to your spouse in the USA for sending on to NVC when the time comes, also complete DS-230 for that package.

I'm currently in the UK, my wife is in Oklahoma. We're also doing the LingChe NVC shortcut method. I am currently waiting for my Police certificate and military records before I send the DS-230 to the NVC. We are about to send the I-864 package.

I send it all to my wife in Oklahoma. We have 2 piles there, one for her 864 package, one for my DS-230 package. I mail my stuff to her as it comes in, she compiles it and completes the table of contents sheet before sending it. Mail is currently taking 4 days using Airsure from the Royal Mail. Once she sends it, she is overnighting it to the NVC. That seems the easiest way to me.

You are perfect! You're doing exactly the same as us!

I am going to send the stuff out today. I'm still waiting on my police certificate but I'll send that on when it comes.

Did the NVC send you the next bunch of forms or did you just download them and send them in?

No, I was in Oklahoma for xmas, so downloaded and printed them all, filled out as much as I could, then came back to wait it out :(

I've made 2 mistakes so far. One, thinking the Army could send me my discharge record with a week or two. It more like a month, so there is my time saved with the LingChe method gone. Two, I paid the two bills online as soon as they appeared. I should have waited with the IV Bill payment until they asked us to pay. So the online system is a bit weird for me now. It says "not paid", but on the receipts page it shows both as page and in fact, we already have both our cover sheets printed...so not sure how that will pan out.

I don't actually know. The NVC told Kourtni that she should have waited until they asked her for payment. How they ask you is unknown to me, maybe someone else can enlighten us both?

Ahh, OK. Well I know the answer in that case, you're about 3 weeks behind us so far.

You are now basically waiting on a letter from the NVC stating your NVC number and IIN. The NVC number allows you to use it in conjuncture with contacting them. The IIN is a number required to pay the bills online (much quicker than postal service!).

What I did was bypass the system a little and basically phoned the NVC every day after I knew we were approved on the I-130, as I wanted to get as much done as possible before coming back to England. After a couple of attempts over a couple of days (You have to give the name and DOB of both petitioner and beneficiary to be allowed to talk to them), I found out my NVC number. I then immediately emailed them and mailed them the downloaded copy of the DS-3032, choice of agent form. You will need to produce your own barcode, which is why you need the NVC number. It's on the LingChe wiki shortcut page, how to do that.

Then I started calling about my IIN, they couldn't help me, but luckily it was on the original DS-3032 choice of agent form when it arrived about a week later, so I then used it to pay the AOS bill, $70, it took 2 days to show as paid. Then a few days later, the IV Bill became available to be paid, so I did and then it showed it as "paid" for 3-4 days, then became "not paid" again. Worried, we phoned the NVC and they said I'd pre-empted payment, so just to wait until they wanted payment. They've kept the money though, so I guess as soon as they want it, they'll adjust the status to "paid".

I already have my NVC number. I got that yesterday when I called up. So now, I should email and post out my ds 3032 form?

Should I send it from here you think or should I sent it on to Anthony first and then let him mail it from the US?

I sent it from within the US, it really is up to you. I'd probably just Airsure it. Remember to e-mail them, they generally email you within 24hrs of that and you're on your way!

Ok So I made my barcord but it's really small! Is that right? It looks just like a line of dots to me!

Where do I email it to? Do i add them as attatchments or just copy it into the email?

No, their is a template posted that you should use for email on the wiki, here.

The barcode should be about 1/2 inch tall IIRC, again, check the wiki page for details.
