Hello,

My husband (who came on a K-1 visa) applied for his SSN today. However, when the lady looked up his name at the SS office today, she said that it was spelled incorrectly when they entered his name at the airport in immigration. She was able to find him and make sure that his SS card will have his correct name, but I'm just wondering if this will be a problem when he applies for his greencard. Do I need to include a note explaining that it was spelled wrong when he went through immigration?

They put his two last names together as one (no hyphen, no space) and even mispelled his second last name.

For example: Perez Lopez

They put: Perezllpez

??? Is there anything we should do other than submit all the AOS papers?

I don't know what you can do at this point other than send as is and see what happens.

Your best bet is to make an infopass and have them lookup how his name shows up with USCIS. If it shows up on their system as the SS office said it does, then show them some documentation (like NOA's from your K1, etc that has the correct name) so that they can probably correct it.
