Ah, and if you didn't ever serve your country, your opinions are worth naught anyway. Where do these people learn how to rationalize and put forward logical argument?

I also have to wonder why it is that some of these people who do serve their country, (and who are held up as examples of civic virtue as a result) seem to think that they can boldly proclaim that people who haven't served don't have the right to their own opinions.

You're right - I don't. My only experience of Clinton (and Bush Sr.) was solely in regards to their overseas policy. I didn't follow the domestic ins and outs of those administrations as I wasn't living in the US at the time and had no need to (after all that's what the UK government was for).

Your candor is refreshing and shocking given the defensive posture eveyone strikes on this forum when personal questions come up.

And in this corner, we have Madame Bizzara's class on the tortured use of the English language. . .

My Army days story was to illustrate my independence of political thought and that I'm not tied to a single individual in office. There's nothing about those who served in the military or those that didn't in that post or some sort of value judgement herein.

There should be a rule that posters can't use words like "rationalize" or "logic" unless they themselves can demonstrate how to use them properly. It's like handing the keys to a drunk driver and not expecting an accident.

This has to be the best part according to Fox News: Why Fox News, they are fair and balanced.

"The Chinese government censored President Obama's inaugural address Tuesday — deleting references to communism and dissent. During his speech, the president said earlier generations, "faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions." Adding later, "those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent — know that you are on the wrong side of history." But the official Chinese translation removed the word "communism" from the first sentence — and the paragraph that included the word "dissent" — was deleted altogether.

State-run TV abruptly dumped out of its live broadcast of the speech, and went to its studio anchor when President Obama mentioned fascism and communism."

Always had this bad feeling that us sending billions of dollars to China is going to backfire on us. Already reported they have over 3,000 spies here trying to steal our technology. Also heard they have a shortage of women, meaning a bunch of horny guys willing to fight to get a little. Have nothing against equal trade, but this is rediculous.

"

“The $57.2 billion trade deficit that America racked up in October is yet another reminder of the consequences of flawed trade policies and the continued crisis in American manufacturing and the broader economy.

“Our trade deficit with China rose yet again, to a record $28.0 billion in October, despite the fact that we are in a deep recession. In 2007, this trade gap cost the United States 366,000 jobs, and we’re on pace to match that in 2008.

“The trade deficit with China is not a product of market forces. Rather, it is the result of Beijing’s mercantilist policies and Washington’s unwillingness to respond. China must honor its commitments on issues such as eliminating industrial and energy subsidies, ending the deliberate misalignment of its currency, and allowing greater market access for U.S. goods. China should also enforce its own labor and environmental laws.

“Washington needs to stand up for American workers and manufacturers before hundreds of thousands of more good jobs move offshore.”

Really don't have to read that, can see it happening here everyday with more and more plants closing down. Even the big three auto makers are getting just about everything from China. Exactly whom are they planning on selling vehicles to? The Chinese? Certainly, not Americans, they have been laid off.
