Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Led Light bulbs are available now, only online. They last for approximately 50+ years. Consumes less than CFL. However, they're more expensive.

I saw some at Sams Club.

They are the way of the future and also safe to use. You practically need a hazmat team if a CFL breaks in your house.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Made in China #######, all of it, no name brand components were found. No overvoltage or transient protection, save the fuse, but once that is blown, the bulb is history.

I always wondered why companies never bothered giving people the option to pay more and buy locally made electronics. Much like water heaters where you get to pick the quality and life of the product, I would pay more for higher quality made in America products.

So lets assume a CFL costs 80 cents from China. I would be willing to pay $1.25 for the same globe if I new I could get it from America, manufactured by Americans and using better quality components. Why no company gives you this option is beyond me. I call it the Whole Foods model. There will always be people like myself who are willing to pay for the better quality and at the same time help our local economy.

I too am willing to buy American when I can, which is why I stay away from stores like Walmart. But the reason stores don't give you the option is simple economics. Every store has limited shelf space, and they need to maximize the profit derived from every square inch of that space. The burden of buying American is squarely on the consumer's shoulders because retailers have zero incentive to offer American products otherwise. Unfortunately we've really painted ourselves in a corner. For example, you simply cannot buy an American made TV. They don't exist. But to the extent possible we can do things like shop at local stores instead of the big mega marts, buy locally grown produce, and support sensible legislation that keeps jobs on our own shores.
